Panther Martins, even more so than Mepps, are a LETHAL lure for smallmouth and largemouth bass, especially smallies in rivers. They are in fact my go to presentation in rivers for smallmouth. I use the #6 - #15 sizes, with the #9 probably getting the most use from me. They will catch anything that swims.

I used panther martin's and mepps for many years now.  Another good one is the strike king inline too if you can find them.

If you on a good bite and it slows down change colors and sometiomes size matters too.  The bite will continue.

I've never really had much luck with this style of lure.  I've got a few panther martins, worden's and mepps' but not sure how to work them I guess.

Do you cast and burn them, or troll them?  Do you weight the line at all, or just use the lure itself?  I think that I've read somewhere about removing the treble hooks and throwing a single hook on there, any thoughts on that??

I've been very successful de-weeding lakes with these lures!

yeah they do  love to catch weeds, but i just use the lure unweighted. i cast reel it in do it again. ive had luck using  a mepps  with a spinning attachment on it( like a spinner bait but with the mepps lure instead of the worm.)

Unfortunately the bream and pickerel love them too. I use Panther Martins when fishing for Brookies.

I started out bass fishing with those lures only (I was a trout guy and didn't know better).  Now that I'm into bass heavily and found the world of finesse fishing I don't use panther martins and mepps (better yet: silver blue foxes!) too much anymore but they definitely catch bass.

Blue fox's spinners seem to run much better than mepps or panter's for me.

Another favorite lure of mine is The Mangler...Type in that and a website should show up.

Snagged a 4-8 lmb this past monday with a Mepps#3

Love these lures. :)

I should have mentioned that my PB smallie (5lbs) was on a blaze orange mepps.
