Hey guys,

this weekend will be my first chance to get out on the water for the year and the first time I get to use my a few of my new toys :D.  I haven't spooled my stradic with any line yet so my question is this:  what suggestions to you have about line for smallmouth fishing?  I plan on mainly using some Yum Crawbugs and small jigs.  As for the water, its Tim's Ford in Winchester Tennessee.  Very deep, occasional gravel bars, not too clear.  Most of my success in the past has been around docks.  So if you have any suggestions Id appreciate it.

Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test)

If you go with original Hybrid, purple smoke blends perfectly with stained water.

If you buy Ultra Soft, green is the best choice.

8-)

Just like buying a car how much do you want to spend? For the $ "BIG GAME" hands down.

Gander Mountain doesn't have the Yo Zuri unfortunately.  Im just looking for what everyone's preference is regardless of price.  Ill get to that when Im in the store  ;D

If you have a BPS around, I'd suggest some 8lb XPS FC line.  Its a quality FC at an affordable price.  Second choice would be some Berkley 100% FC - NOT VANISH - it stinks, but the new Berkley 100% - Either will be good line for your purposes.

I asked this same question last year. I listened to RW and fell in love with Yo-Zuri line. I fish 8# though. Its practically perfect in my opinion. I went from worrying about the line breaking to no worry at all. The the abrasion resistance is great practically no memory.

HANDS DOWN TO YO-ZURI!

I have friends from nashville that fish Tims and there are monsters in there. I hope you get to post some pics. They use dark green hair jigs.

Thanks for the advice about the jigs ^^.  Ive been reading and trying to find some recent reports on the lake.  I'm still undecided on my line choice but I will have to give the Ultra Soft a try once I can get my hands on some.  Ive heard way too many good things about it on this site and others to ignore.  Not a bad price tag either.
