Clipping front treble

Featured Replies

Does anyone clip or remove the front treble on lipless cranks or shallow wood bumping cranks? I was thinking about trying it for fishing grass and wood and reducing snags. I'm wondering how much this would hurt the action and hook-up ratio. Thanks in advance.

I have never eally considered it but have heard...or read actually about putting and single worm hook on the back instead of a treble to help with the hookset and prevent the fish from throwing the bait.  Personally, I have had too many fished hooked by the front hook ONLY to try that.

A lot of people remove the trebles and replace them with single hooks( done it myself) for fish like barracuda, they don't hook up as easy, but once you got em, you own em.

It does nothing, you get just as many weeds.
