Hey guys,

I went smallmouth fishing for the first time today on the New River near Blacksburg, VA.  I didn't catch anything, but then again I didn't expect to.  With wind chill I think it was something like 17 when we got out there.  It was the first time I have had my guides freeze while fishing.

But, my real question pertains to tube fishing.  I believe the bottom of the river was rocky.  When the tube is on the bottom bouncing around with the current does it feel like little bites.  I was thinking that it was going into little cracks in the the rocks and just feeling like little bites, but sometime it felt like a pretty hefty tug.  Any ideas or knowledge from experience would help.

I've fished tubes a little bit in Arkansas on the Buffalo river. The rocks definately make it feel like fish and the current in the water will play tricks on you if you are watching your line. Its definately not like fishing around here.

Bass will generally hold a tube so you don't have

to be as quick as you might think.
