Ten pounds of Bronze...Palm Sunday

Featured Replies

Okay, it took me three fish to get to ten pounds, but dang it fealt real good each time. My first three bronze fish of 2010 ! Yahoo !!

First one went 3.2 pounds.

Second one went 3.0 pounds.

Third one went 3.9 pounds.

They all went back, and are swimming again.

Was fishing in chest waders, but did not go in deeper than "the boyz" due to the cold water temps, and they spent little time beneath the waters, as it was so cold, so I fished mainly knee-deep in this NYC watershed reservoir located just north of New York City for over two hours before I had enough of the damp cold wind and overcast skies, which were getting thicker with drizzle by the time I left.

You KNOW this ol' dude was smiling as I drove home.

Was fishing right in front of a really old church, on Palm Sunday. Does thst count as having 'gone to church' that day ?  ;D

NIce, sounds like a good fight for the size also

Congrats!  Sounds like a great day to me.

p.s. I think that counts for church, too.

8-)

Nice outting buddy!   I believe being on the water is alot like church with the meditation!  Thanks for making my body jolt hearing that smallies were caught-rivers/creeks still too high to fish yet--I'm off today so I gotta get out and do some kind of fishing--I gotta spot for some spots and largemouth--not smallies, but fish to be caught, none-the-less!!!  Do you mind saying how you caught them?  John.

John,

I tried a lot of different presentations including small hare jigs, a drop-shot small worm, and suspending jerkbaits[Pointers].

The only lure that was wrong was a four-inch color #236 [called 'dirt' by Yamamoto] wacky-rigged, weighhtless Senko, worked REALLY REALLY slowly on the bottom. Fish were not out deep, but I'd guess around the 5 foot depths. Very subtle bites...

This was in a man-made, stream-fed reservoir.

Water temps had to be in the 40s.

Sounds like a great outing. I'm hoping to get a few myself this week.

I'd like to add that these three fish were caught on a 6'9" medium spinning rod loaded with 8 pound flouro.

Yes, I had my hands full, and NO net.

Dang, it fealt good, too.
