Need help with fishing large creek. Nothing seems to be working

Featured Replies

Hello all. I am fishing elkhorn creek and haven't had much luck at all with any kind of bass. I have seen smallies caught this year and have seen them in the water, however my tactics have proven to be unsuccessful. I fish a very large dam spillway as well as from my kayak, both are spots that are rarely fished because not too many pol know about them, and this creek is very well known to be very abundant with nice sized smallmouth and largemouth bass. Any suggestions on baits and how to present them from a kayak as well as around the dam would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for all your help.

if its shallower i would try a senko or if the water is kinda fast moving i would try a spinnerbait i was wading a creek that runs out of a spillway yesterday and i got a nice smallmouth and a nice walleye on a white spinnerbait

O.K., so what have you tried?

Fat Ika (weightless), Rage Tail Baby Craw

(T-rigged) and 5" Senko (weightless)

8-)

I like zoom ultra vibe speed craws texas rigged with a 1/8 or 1/4 oz bullet weight. I like serious patience of poppin and lettin it sit for a little bit so I pop it let it sit for a sec and repeat.

I've had some pretty good luck fishing with poppers at various dam spillways. Have you tried that yet?

If you are trying bigger lures without much success at all, then I would go your typical creek lures that will always help you land a few fish (Rooster Tail, Rebel Crawfish, etc.)
