Calm down!!!!!!

I'm talking about those little pieces of braid, mono, or flouro, that are left on the "O" rings of your hard baits or hook eyes after you cut them off you line. Does anyone think they cause a problem with bait action, or could they bother the fish??

I use a nail clipper to get them off...they drive me CRAZY but just for appearance sake.

I've never had one "cling" to any of mine. I add a mono one in some cases on hooks for Tx rigs with braid to keep the braid from slipping thru the eye gap.

I only have them with braid, especially since I can't find my scissors and been using a pocket knife.  They bother me, but I'll only spend so much time trying to cut them off with a pocket knife.  They can't impact the action of the bait.  I do wonder if some old excess gets in the knot, whether it can impact knot strength.

I bought 10 pairs of Fiskars kid's scissors at Target on clearence for $.48 each. they are all over my boat!!!

When I remove a bait, i cut the knot, not the line. Problem solved.

I don't know if they affect fishing success or not, but i always just cut (or bite, depending on the line) them off. I can't stand it when i'm fishing with a buddy and he's tying on a bait that already has 2 or 3 old knots hanging from the O-ring.

Cut the line then the knot...it's just that easy..

Depends on what your trying to do. You can do it on purpose which positions the line at a specific pull point to give the bait a different action. It can kill some action which can be good in cold water or change the vibration pattern which can be good for pressured fish. You can use it with topwater lures which also changes the action. With an R bend spinnerbait if you are using braid it keeps the knot where it should be. It just depends on what your trying to do. With a Rapala floating minnow or any jerkbait for that matter it changes the swimming action depending on where the knot is. (when you tie to the bait not split ring) your just using the other knots to hold your pull point position.
