New Guy From Virginia

Featured Replies

Hey All,

I fish for several species but my love is LM Bass. Striper and Puppy Drum get a major portion of my attention in the fall.

I started fishing for Bass in 1980 and reached a point before I retired from the Navy where I was offered sponsorships and fished some ProAm's. I never thought I was very good, but I was a LOT better than I am now, sucks getting old and not being able to remember anything.

I've backed off now and just fish for fun, my fun is pretty intense (my boat's name is "Intense Relaxation").

I enjoy traveling the country and fishing different places and for different species, small mouth are a blast!

My favorite way to fish is wading a river, I don't fly fish (that's more of an art than a sport in my opinion), just use a spinning rod (light tackle) and small lures.

I bought out a tackle store a few years ago and got into the tackle business. All that stuff is gone but I make my own lures (spinner and buzz baits, puppy drum lures and jigs). It's a new think for me and something I hope to spend more time doing when I retire.

Glad to be here and look forward to meeting ya'll.

Welcome to the board! If you need some ideas to go in Newport News let me know. I use to live down there for 6 years. I use to fish Newport News res., Mariners, and all the Suffolk lakes. Plus, as Hookingem (AJ) says another VA guy.

A lot of great information and good people in here hope to see you post a lot!
