The Spinner Rig

Featured Replies

I was at my lake yesterday and noticed a guy onshore using a rig I was not familiar with and he was slaying them. Today I was googling around and discovered it was a spinner rig, It seems like it is not a very popular largemouth bass presentation, so my question is Does anyone here use this rig?

Never heard of it, whats it look like?

yeah, very popular walleye rig here.Works very well. It's very prone to snags though. That can get costly.

I've made a few for my last walleye trip last year.

Basically all you do is tie a hook to a leader add beads then a spinner blade a few more beads and a swivel. I like the 3 ways if I'm going to add weight.

There's a bunch of ways to do it,but the one pictured is more basic.

I've done pretty well on the smallmouths with this rig. I use live bait on the hook.

I've caught a lot of bass trolling minnows and nightcrawlers on a spinner rig for walleye. It's kind of like one of the pre-rigged creme worms with the beads and spinner in front only a bigger blade.

I have never tried it in fresh water, but it bangs 'em up in the salty stuff... I've used live bait, grubs, and the old mister twister shad baits.
