Welcome Jhill, use a cross eye 1/2 oz or larger jig and rig same as normal C-rig.

Just wondering why would you want to do that?

You are able to fish two different presentaions at once.  I have never done it, only read about it.  I am just wondering how to keep the C-rig sliding without the fish feeling the weight of the jig, while still being able to set the hook on the jig.

You probably get snagged alot using this set up! But, you never know!

People are always dreaming up ways to get that little edge.

There are alot of dropshotters who believe in using a light jig as the bottom weight.

Also there are live bait guys who believe instead of using a float, use a popper.

My experience is that use whatever technique you choose, but use it the way it was designed to be used.  The double lure presentations may work for some folks, but for me they detract from the intended presentation

One reason why some use a jig as the weight is because when using a regular weight sometimes the bass are atracted to what is stiring up all the commotion on the bottom and will actually bite the weight itself.   So buy using a jig and this happens you have a oppurtunity to still catch the fish.    What I find is when a bass is biteing the the weight is to shorten your leader length some so the bass will associate the comotion to the bait following

I use a football jig for this.  As mentioned, one with a flat eye or cross eye.  Leaving the jig free standing on the main line, bead/no bead, swivel, leader and hook.  Sometimes use 3X plastics with this, actually more so than rigging conventional c-rig.  Everyone has had those killer hits, or had one running with it, only to come up empty and with no disturbing of the plastic on the hookset.  Often they have picked up the sinker.  This is another approach at addressing that.  Some guys say they have about a 50-50 jig to plastic catch rate.  Mine isn't that high, but it does work.  You won't hang this up any more than a normal jig presentation.

The only doubles I have had came on trailers hitting the plastic while bringing in the jig fish.  That is where the flat eye and free standing jig come into play.
