Sebile Magic Swimmer and Spro BBZ Shad

Featured Replies

So I received these two lures from TW about a week ago and I got  chance to try them out a little bit on saturday. I absolutely loved the action of the Spro BBZ shad, it has a great swimming action and I didn't have any of the casting problems that some other people mentioned. I think its going to be killer! I also tried out the Sebile Magic Swimmer and I wasn't that impressed. The action seemed lifeless and it had very little swimming motion. Did anybody else have this issue? I'm sure it will catch fish and I'm going to put in a lot more time with it before I decide one way or the other but so far I'm a little disappointed.

What size is your magic swimmer? I don't know if that makes a difference but I have a 125 and it swims wonderfully.  There's no way you could call it lifeless.  Granted, the smallest piece of grass or gunk takes away the action, check and make sure your hooks are clear after every 3-5 casts or so if you are fishing it near the bottom.  Also, what size line are fishing it on?

The actions on the two baits are different. The Spro action isn't as tight and works better at slower speeds. The sebile in that size has a tight action like most shad and many other prey fish do at a fast speed. On the casting action the sebile baits cast much better and don't roll. To be fair I was one of the guys who can't stand the way the Spro casts. But,my first versions were all sinkers. I found a floater hung in a tree since then and have found it casts better than the heavier versions.  ;) Kind of crazy but it doesn't do the spin on the cast like the others. Is your Spro a floater?

I can olny comment on the Spro BBZ...I have no problems casting mine, eith on my spinning, or bc rig..spinning has 8 lb , bc has 12 lb both yozuri hybrid ultrasoft.

Bass-Brat: no I did not catch anything. I only fished them for maybe 15 minutes total. There was a pretty good spinnerbait bite on that day and I decided that I would rather catch fish and mess with the swimbaits later. I'm hitting my home lake next week so I'm going to use them extensively that day.

Randall, I have the fast sink version, not the floater. It doesn't exactly look elegant flapping around in midair but I have not had any problems with distance, accuracy, or the line getting tangled in the hook during the cast. Also, you might be right about the sebile, the action is probably  tighter than the spro, I was expecting a wide swimming motion.
