I was just 32 years old in 1988 when my Father died unexpectedly. You can't imagine who many days of fishing I would have gladly given up had we been able to share this day together for many more years.

My advice would be - If you've still got a Dad, spend the day with him and cherish the moment. If you are a Dad, spend the day with your children so they'll have memories to cherish of their own.

My little 3 year old daughter already tipped me off that she has a "surprise" for me tomorrow. She is just adorable. :D

I wish I was going fishing with my dad tomorrow. Unfortunately we work different shifts and have different days off so we almost never see each other. :( I'm glad he'll be changing days off soon so we'll at least have one day off together. I know enough people who have lost their dads suddenly to know that if I keep saying we'll go fishing sometime, I may run out of time.

And Happy Grandfather's Day, too.

Going to have lunch with son, daughter-in-law and grandson.

I told my wife that I think we will be picking up the tab.

If son picks it up I will probably have a heart attack.

Some things just don't change!!! :D

Lund I didn't mean anything like that I jump at every chance I get to see my dad I shoulda been more specific about who I wish I was fishing with. I would give anything to get my son and dad on the water to fish today. Every weekend my dad had me when I was younger was spent fishing but me and my father haven't gone fishing together in almost 10 years. He's in a wheelchair and his diabetes has got so out of control his feet and legs are swollen and pretty much dead he's having his right leg amputated Thursday that I took the day off for.

My daughter and I are going out later today. She asked me to take her fishing on Fathers day and I told her gladly, I'll wake you at 5am. Shes 14 and didn't think that was too funny. I guess it'll be an afternoon trip. I can't wait .

I guess I'm the one that should apologize for being a little more grumpy than normal. It really wasn't meant as a slam so much as a good "wake-up" shake. I just hate to see kids of any age that think that time spent with their parents is wasted. Maybe it takes losing one to realize what they meant to us, no matter how much we didn't know it.

For twenty-some years, Father's Day for me was a day for golfing in the annual father-son tournament. Golf was his sport of choice, mine was fishing. While I was lucky enough to work with my Dad for a number of years (me in accounting and him in commercial real estate), work days only gave us a brief few minutes each day to visit as Father and Son. It was the few days like the golf tournament that gave us the chance to spend an entire day together.

Through the years he taught me many valuable lessons, and I guess he was right when he worried about my slightly acidic tongue. So like I said, I'm sorry if that first post was a little too rough. I hope your Dad's health issues can be resolved so that you two can enjoy each other for many more years.

Happy Father's Day!

I took my 14 month old in the backpack this afternoon for about an hour and a half before it was his bedtime. He laughs maniacally every time I catch a fish. Not alot of laughing today :D ), but it's fun to take him out. I can't wait 'til he can fish too.

Happy fathers day, all. Hope you all enjoyed the day as much as I did. Aint much better than waking up late and having the kids leap into bed with you to say "Happy Daddies Day!" Good times.
