More on this will come in a few weeks at ICAST, but Airrus rods offered us a sneak peak at their new "NanoTube Technology" rods, designed by Ken Whiting of Carrot Stix fame. According to Ken:

Although it looks similar on the surface to our Puls-R series this is where the similarity ceases. The blank holds the future of blanks to come, it is called "Buckypaper" and allows us to integrate what we call "Carbon Nano Layering" into the blank.

What is "Buckypaper"?

Buckypaper films are made up of nanotubes. They are thin flexible films (10-30 micrometers) with nanoscale porous structures and exceptionally lightweight (21.5g/m2 or 0.0705 oz./ft2). They have very unique properties. For instance, thermal management typically involves either brass or steel. Our aligned buckypaper films have been tested to indicate they are far better than steel and almost as good as brass, yet far lighter.

The Z is one ugly *** reel, but will be aimed more at big game freshwater fishing.

A lineup of t3 reels and rods will compete with Curados, rod actions cover all aspects of bassin'. The t3 rods look like a Zillion but with red accents. The t3 reel has tri-wing tech.

Clary the Pixy will be in the $350-$450 range and will be aimed at finesse, yet has a ridiculous drag so you can flip and pitch with it too.

For that money, technique pending, I would get a Steez or a Zillion Type-R unless you want to replace your spinning rig.

I thought it would be somewhere in the Zillion price range wise. I dont know if I would shell out 350-400 for one but they sure look nice. Guess I'll stick with the zillion. I think both the Z and T3 are ugly *$$ reels.
