Im getting much more rod specific per technique and situation than i ever thought i would.

what kind of line would you use for these applications.

1. Top water- using spooks and other topwaters with trebles

2. shallow cranking- 0-7 feet, crankbaits round wood and rocks

3. medium to deep cranking- 8-20+, would also use this rod for lipless cranks as i have liked this combo.

i like to hear all of your opinions so have at it

10-12 lb test nylon most of the time for most of the lures and techniques.

I usually throw 15lb mono for topwater.

Bandits and shallow - mid diving baits I throw 10lb-12lb mono...squarebills i throw 15lb when bumping into cover

deep cranking I throw 12lb when using deep divers in less than 12ft of water when using deep divers in over I throw 10lb mono

sounds pretty good so far. suprised havent heard more about flouro.

Mono for all topwater and cranks...

I use 50lb braid for everything.

15lb Tatsu

Deep crank usually 12lb Tatsu.

I fish a different rod entirely for my lipless baits. 7-11 MH XF Cumara with 15 or 20 lb Tatsu or Bawo 25.

1. I wont share my answer because the rest of the forum disagree's. But it rhymes with 15 hound Snore-o-carbon.

2. 12-15 lb. Fluoro. I like Seaguar Abrazx because its super abrasion resistant for fishing around cover.

3. 10 lb. Yo-Zuir Hybrid. Castable as mono, but a lot stronger, and plenty sensitive.

top-water- braid (for pulling in slop and minimum line stretch)

shallow crank- mono ( because of line stretch, you can use fluoro if you use a flimsy glass cranking rod)

deeper crank- fluoro ( better sensitivity at deeper depth and less line stretch for deeper hooksets)

a good mono will take care of all of these situations but, these lines will perform slightly better for each condition in my opinion.

1 30lb power pro. 2 10lb pline flouroclear, 3 15lb pline flouroclear, or trilene flourocarbon

topwater- lighter briad (30-50)

shallow cranking- fluoro for its abrasion resistance

deep cranking- fluoro because it allows the crank to go deeper

For top water and shallow crank (1-3 feet ) --> Mono

For Deep cranking ( or actually for any crank that cranks more than 3 feet) --> Fluorocarbon

But in general, I think you can't go wrong with braid in either application.
