Mattlures U2 Bluegills

Featured Replies

hey guys, i was wandering why my mattlure u2 bluegill isn't swimming straight. i've tried boiling it and cooling it down, but it isn't working. so my question is how do you guys who used this bait before make your bluegill swim straight to you? thnx for any advice

Its defective, try to exchange it for another one. If that is not an option, figure out which way the swimbait is leaning on the retrieve, and then hold the belly firmly and grasp the hook carefully and twist the hook in the opposite direction of the lean. This actually shifts the internal weight and hopefully will fix your problem. The last thing I can think of is you are retrieving it too fast. It is meant to be fished really slow, or deadsticked. Hope some or all of this helps.

thnk you, i would probably try your advice out for the next time im going fishing.

I'd be willing to bet your retrieve is too fast.

If the bait is straight it should swim straight. After you boil it stright you need to let it cool dowd stright.

If its still not right then send me an email to my site and I will exchange it for you no problem.

thnx again for the info. i am going to boil it again and see if it will swim straight. another question, how do you guys store these bait without using the swimbait tackle box? i usually just tied these bait to line spool and just let them hang. is this good or bad for the bait?

Letting them hang is the best way to store them. Also do not bend them trying to tune them. The hook is hardened steel and it will break if it bends to far. The insert wont bend either. I am guessing the reason your bait wont run right is becuase its crooked. Boil for 30 seconds or untill its straight then just let it hang by the hook eye. It need to cool down straight in order to stay straight. Again if it aint working just send me an email to my site and I will take care of it

Thanks

Matt
