Culling Beam

Featured Replies

Is anyone using culling beams and if so which one? I came in 3rd in a tournament last saturday and missed 2nd by 2 oz. I culled out 10+ fish so i really think that i could have thrown 2nd place out of the boat by only using my scale.

I don't fish tourneys, but if i did i would make one. Use 1 foot of an aluminum yardstick, 3 shower curtain rings, and three well-placed drilled holes. Cost: maybe $1

I have used Bass Pro Shops XPS culling beam for years. I know a 1/16 oz jig will tip it. Prior to that I just used a scale for culling. I'm sure the scale cost me some money over the years. This past saturday I finished 10th place in the cabelas tournament on bays de noc. 10th place you go the the championship. 11th place you stay home and wish you finished 10th. I used my culling beam on several close fish. My weight was 18.63lbs, 11th place was 18.62 lbs.

Good luck, fish hard, have fun
