Football Jig Help

Featured Replies

I'm going fishing on a deeper part of the lake tomorrow and am going to use a football jig. I have never used a football jig and was curious as to what color skirt or grub I should use not only for tomorrow but as a general bait. For use as an everyday bait which colors are most effective?

Depends on what the weather/water conditions are. If you're fishing clear water, go with a more natural color, like your green, red, and white colors. For muddy water conditions, try a brown color. For dirty low visibility water, try a darker color like Black & Blue. As Mr. Brauer would say, 3 colors to get you by - a Black & Blue, Texas Craw(green), and Chameleon Crawfish color(brown).

Brown and Orange

Green Pumpkin

All Black

You can go wrong with these 3 colors

if I had to chose 1 color it would be black and blue. Second would be PBJ.
