Singapore Trip 2011

Featured Replies

hi guys,

I came back from Singapore not too long ago. I was there for 6 weeks and fished for quite a while, it was great fun! I caught peacock bass, snakeheads, koi, assorted cichlid and even an alligator gar!

My first koi

Looks like a lot of fun to me! There is a monster koi in one of the lakes I fish, I've seen it the last 3 or 4 trips and it's well over 20 lbs. It sticks out like a sore thumb because it's mostly bright orange with a little black. Do they fight like a carp? Nice fish!

i guess they should fight like carp because they are the 'domesticated ornamental' morph of common carp. My first koi was pretty boring though it pulled out drag for about 5 yards and the rest of the time i was just dragging its fat bum back. I was using 8 lb test. However the second koi i hooked fought like hell, it pulled about 40 yards of drag and fought for like 2 minutes. I think its about 16-18 lb
