Supposedly found in stagnant water, only.

No problem with moving water. :)

You mean like ponds or wash pools and swamps? How about river coves and creeks?

32 cases in ten years. I think you're probably fine.

All ponds and lakes have current.

They were talking about bird baths; water in old tires; water standing in flower pots; and the like.

I don't think you will have any problems with any places you fish as there is a current in that water be it from the underground spring or the wind.

How about smiling in one or two of your photos????? ;)

it just happened here in florida. a girl died in brevard county. i can't attach the link, but it was on sunsentinel.com

I'm lucky.

They would take one look at what a small meal it would be and proceed to someone else.

ALERT!!!!

The amoeba that casued the 9 year old's fatal infectino may have come from a pond.

The original report said the amoeba lived in stagnant water but today's Richmond Times-Dispatch says the amoeba may have come from a pond when the young boy was dunked in the water at the Virginia Fishing Adventures camp.

The Virginia Departent of Health is going to test the waters in the various ponds the camp visited however, with the temperatures dropping, the article said it may be very difficult to pinpoint the exact pond.

Just wanted everyone to have an update. If you want to read the article please go to the Richmond Times-Dispatch web page.

This is a very tragic situation with the unnecessary loss of life of a nine year-old.

So it is found in ponds. I know someone who lives in lake of the woods and they said they have it in the smaller of their two lakes!!!

What causes this, waste or just nature it self? Thanks for post #8 Sam and thanks Fishing4SquidDuck for creating this topic! Also Is this caused by swimming, drinking the water or eating fish?

From what I've read it enters through the nose. So i would assume swimming but its provost not safe to drink either. It's natura kind of like red tide in the ocean.

Wow, Tee Clarkson who runs the camps is a good friend of mine. That blows. He's a really good guy.
