Shimano Clarus

I have a 6'6" Medium Light-Fast , Line Wt 6-15#, Lure Wt 1/8-5/8oz Casting Rod

I bought this a while back before I really knew the importance of line weight, lure weight, action etc. It is basically a sit in the corner rod that doesn't get a whole lot of use.

My question is what is the ideal use for this rod?

I heard of people liking medium light for shaky. Just not sure on length and casting. but could give it a shot and see if work for you.

I use a 6'8 M-XF Carbonlite spinning rod for shaky. 2" difference.

This might work too or even better. Dropshot. Read Islandbass post.

Dropshot, shaky heads, small cranks and just about any finesse technique should all work great on that rod depending on how powerful it actually is. A 50 size shimano (curado/chronarch) or Sol/Alphas would suit the rod perfectly IMO. I'm sure a lot of people can cast a 1/8oz shaky head + finesse worm with just about any reel on the correct rod but I struggle casting 1/4oz or less without a more finesse oriented reel.

I thought about small cranks. What about top water? I had a Curado 50e on it but at the moment it has a vintage Shimano 10xSG on it.

I have the 6'6 6/12 spinning clarus with a supreme 30, I use it mainly for pond fishing with any kind of technique I desire. Sometimes for a change of pace I take this little outfit beach fishing for smaller jacks, bluefish or snook, the rod handles them beautifully. I would limit the rod to open water fishing, heavy weeds may pose a problem.
