Clayton, i travel overseas alot (75 days so farI this year) and have young children so I understand your situation. If you're hunting,fishing and doing overseas deployments that doesn't leave much time for her. Personally, I had to pare down my activities. I dont golf or hunt anymore. I figured I only had time for one, so I chose bass fishing. It was my choice, not hers and I dont hold any resentment about it.

I would say make sure to balance your time and hang in there... it does get easier when the kids get a little older. MY 5year old (6 next week) is a bass fishing freak and that makes it alot easier to get out. My son gets frustrated when he doesnt catch much, which gives me opportunities to go out "scouting" to make sure my son catches fish when we're out.

Well I am very lucky, my wife used to ask me "When are you going fishing again?" Now that we have a toddler and an infant I don't get to go near as much. It is difficult with two at the house, but I have to remember one thing- Water and fish are going to be there, kids grow up and move on. I am not trying to tell you what to do, I get that this is really a venting post for you man. I just try to do what I can fishing wise at the house and time frees up a little when they get to be around 6 months (little less labor intensive). That is the one thing that SUCKS about fishing- not being able to do it while at the house!! I want BPS, CABELAS, TW and others to sell an 8 hour block of time for you to go fishing- they will send someone to your house and do the Honey-dos while you fish!!

Never a problem.

In fact, she is glad to get me out of the house for the day.

We have a great time when I get home!!!!

I'm betting you knew this was a pretty tough crowd. If you were hoping for some feedback, you certainly got it. The conviction and passion they possess is evident in their responses. I hope you and your wife are able to come to some common ground.

Although post didn't reflect it, I bet there was a time when there was encouragement with smiles and sincere words of praise and time to listen to and care for each other affectionately. Perhaps some of this is what got you two together. Simply getting back to that may be the answer for both of you.

Clayton marriage is lifetime commitment that requires honesty and sacrifice IMO. When you treat your wife the way she should be treated the rewards are great. She has great responsibility also. Keep the faith man. A good marriage is a wonderful thing that does not happen by accident and often takes time to get right. Good luck.
