Fishing Bag Options?

Featured Replies

I recently downgraded from a full fishing backpack to one of those real cheap satchels you see in every fishing department. Well I want something a bit bigger, more girth so I can double the tackle in it but I don't want a big tackle bag. I went to walmart the other day and saw a small flambeau kwikdraw that looked like the right size, but I'd rather get something with a full flap since the kwikdraw looks like it has a underwear strap.

What options are out there for me? I don't want a true tackle bag because the box shape is awkward, and I can deal with a hip pack

I use a good sized fanny pack (my inshore tackle bag), my lures are kept in theses boxes, I use size 003 http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/polybags-boxes/371111.aspx, I put 2-4 lures per box and 5-6 boxes fit. Each box is segrated, spoons, jigs, etc. My fanny has room in a seconds compartment for swivels, leader line, hooks and sinkers. Been doing this 6 years, best system for me I ever used.

I use an old turkey hunting vest. It is not the new style with all the specialized pockets. It has two big pockets on each side plus a big pocket on the back to hold a bird. With it I can carry a huge plano box in back that will hold muskie lures. The pockets on the front/sides can hold the planos for bass lures. It can hold as much as you want to carry.

I decided on the Field & Stream Ice Creel Bag, it suits my needs perfectly. I have 2 double sided plastic containers and all my soft plastic bags sit at the bottom.

They are on sale at Dicks if you can find them, or you can order them online http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3029571

Have you tried fly fishing vest? If you don’t plan to take out large amount of gears, the vest is the way to go.

I will have plastics in a pocket, and rest of my stuff in a small Plano box. It works great when I go out for 1-2 hours, and I don’t feel like bringing tons of stuff with me.

I use a 10" tool bag with a nylon tool belt through the handles as a shoulder strap.

I used a bag that would hold 3 360 planos in the main compartment, then got a god awful expensive fanny pack, and settled on the same back pack that sat in the corner for years. But they all have their positives and negatives.
