Best Colors For Plastics When Cloudy?

Featured Replies

what colors do you use for plactics when it's cloudy in clear water conditions?i use watermelon and green pumpkin in black flake when it's sunny and i do well, but when the clouds come it seems to die.

Dark colors under dark conditions. Junebug, Black/Blue, Blue Saphhire, Green Pumpkin all work well when it is cloudy. ;)

Green pumpkin works all day when its raining too... And at night. And at noon. And in winter. And in clear water. And in murky water. and... you get the point.

Last week while pre-fishing for a club tournament my partner and I found the water to be very muddy on the upper lake and stained all the way down to the dam. He recalled reading an article that said that blue was the last color to fade out in the spectrum and died on a brush hog with some blue in it. He immediately started getting bites. At that point I started searching through my bag for plastics with some blue in 'em and found that they would bite on most anything as long as there was some blue. BTW, the tournament was won on a black/blue jig. Coincidence? Who knows.

If the water is dirty Black w/ blue flake has always worked very well for me on dark/overcast days. If the water is clear Green pumpkin works well, cloudy or sunny.

The used technique for plastics that I use is wacky so Senko Plum Apple for me. Worked for me anytime not matter conditions unless topwater is on like yesterday couldn't buy a hit unless it was topwater. Today was somewhat the same as well. Other than that color I do use June Bug next in line with Greenpumkin, Watermelon. I had some luck with Black/blue laminate or blue flake.
