Polarized glasses for over my eyeglasses?

Featured Replies

Hello all. Pretty basic question; anyone know if they make any sort of polarized glasses that will fit over a pair of normal eyeglasses? My eyes are horrible and going without my glasses would be impossible, so i would need something that fits over them. Thanks!

Cocoon makes some very nice ones that fit over prescription glasses.  They come in different sizes and colors.

I have Coocoons and Fitovers and I prefer the Fitoves

Have you ever considered prescription sunglasses?

I paid over $400.00 for a pair of Rx sunglasses and they lasted about 14 months. The  Polarized "film" was coming off of them. Only had 12 month warranty. Tried to get replacemnts free and they asked if I had them in hot conditions since that would void warranty?? I am not kidding.

I got some that fit on front of my regular glasses that work very well and I can get rid of them if they get scratched since they are less than $20.

Never heard of the Fitovers.  Will have to take a look at them.  Have only seen the Cocoons.

I found some over glasses polarized sunglasses at Sam's that I like a lot.  Polar Eyes.  There were about $25.00.

I prefer flip ups to fitovers, some of the time I don't need or want sunglasses and it's one less thing to carry.  My flip ups have performed equal to any prescription polarized sunglasses I have bought.  Some people make an issue of light filtering in from the side, an easy remedy are shop safety guards that slip on to your glasses.

I should have gone to a bit more detail in my first reply. My Fitovers are just more comfortable over my regular glasses. The Fitovers are grey and the Cocoon's are amber. The Fitovers seem a tad lighter but that may be fit rather than weight. Both have adequate side shields and performance seems about equal. I think the price was about the same but I've had both for nearly 10 years so I don't recall exactly.

I have the cocoons.  This is my second pair after losing the first.  I got them at BPS (think they were around $40) and thought I was getting grey like the first pair I had -- but, they turned out to be amber.  I can't compare with fitovers since I haven't owned them.  The cocoons work fine for me but I like the grey better than the amber.  My eyes are sensitive to the wind when I go fast in the boat and the cocoons solved that problem as well.  I keep mine on those string things so that I can let them hang when I don't want them on.

I have the Fit Overs with the amber lense and the gray lense, 3 pair of prescription polarized sunglasses (green-gray-amber), and Cocoon clip-ons with gray and amber lense. I wear the clip-ons the most because they are just easier to deal with.
