Northern Va Cold Front This Weekend

Featured Replies

Was wondering if the bite should slow down or not? Gonna hit the water this afternoon. Possibly Saturday or Sunday.

I felt like the bite was off yesterday, lol. I caught 5 at Caroline Pines and all was dinks. 4 on wacky 1 ona Colorado white/chartreuse spinner. A couple of misses on the buzzbait. My wife had 1 on wacky. The water was stained from the rain we had Wednesday so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it?? The bite was off for this other boater out as well. I want to go tomorrow to Smoot's but don't think I'm going out and not only that I forgot to call to see if is open to fish.

Good luck if go out and post your trips outing!! You hitting the river any or your neighborhood lake?

Cold fronts usually shut them down.

You can fish a cold front as it moves through. Once it passes the bass get lockjaw.

This does not mean you will not catch anything. It means that the fishing can be tough.

Probably will not open up until Monday.

So lets experiment. How about you going out today and tomorrow and let us know how you do?

Dress warm and be ready to get some rain. If you see or hear lightning, leave and go home immediately, if not sooner. Lightning can strike five miles out from the storm. ;)

Wondering if the cold snap will turn on the shad/spinnerbait bite.......

It should ball them up, dunno if it'll be cold enough to shock/kill some of them. Water's so muddy right now on P-mac near me that they bass would have to work to find the schools.

Can't wait! Blade bite, scrounger bite, flippy/pitchy! Res should be on fire!

Did OK on friday, wasn't able to get out the rest of the weekend. Got rained on but no lightning. Probably caught 10 between me and my buddy from 4pm-7pm. Nothin over 2 lbs. though. the only bite we were getting was in the shallows with swim jigs, nice a slow dragging the bottom, was how I was fishing it. I have given up on the wacky, was working good in the spring and early summer but has fallen off for me ever since. No bites on a ghost minnow jerk bait, shad colored shallow crank (caught a few last weekend on it),chartruese and white spinner and nothing on the chatter bait (also caught a few last weekend on it).

l wandered out at first lite and was forced to return to my house after only a few casts due to lower back pain.. Anybody else get out?

Not here I stayed in. I might try to get out Wednesday and I think me and the wife going our Thursday! But then I think the weather post to get warmer again so I wonder if that will affect bite as well? From what Weather.com says for my area 55 today showers, tomorrow 69, Wednesday 74, and Thursday 67. 68, 73, 77 for Friday and weekend if stays the same if anybody wondering. All sunny besides tomorrow and Sunday partly cloudy. Fall all week and weekend lows are mid 40's till weekend than the 50's. Hopefully weather stays good.
