Double fluke rig

Featured Replies

Looking for information about fishing two flukes. How do you set up this rig? How do you fish it? Any tips or experiences with it? Two same color flukes or mix and match? Line weight? Ever hook up two fish?

Thanks fellas.

My buddy fishes a double fluke a lot. I do not know how he does it though. It does work. I sometimes fish a double senko. A 3 way swivle one loop tie a 12" leader the other tie a 18" leader and one to tie to your line. I catch a lot of fish this way.

I've heard this about other baits as well. I guess my question what is the legality of it during tournaments ??? I've never had 2 baits on at once but its an interesting topic.

Never heard of this but i thought about how you could tie a jig on as a drop shot weight ??? sounds inviting

It works better with two barrel swivels. You will hook two fish eventually, and you don't want two fish pulling each other with you pulling on the other end. Plus, the following rig gives way better action. Slide a small plastic bead on, and then slide one of the swivels on the line, and tie the other on end. Then tie two leaders on the other end of each, the one on the sliding swivel should be a little shorter than the terminal swivel. 18" is plenty. The bead is part of the presentation, and protects you tip top. 12# CXX or comparable line works fine.

I have used a pegged Tx rigged Yama Kreature as the weight on a dropshot. It works too. Nobody made any rules about this stuff. Use  whatever you can create to catch fish.Who cares if looks silly or does not seem normal. If you can do something new and catch fish, then do it.

I do the double rig only I use Sluggos, remember those?

Anyhow, make 2 leaders, one about 1 1/2 foot, the other about 2 1/2 foot. Tie your hook on one end, on the other end tie a small swivel without the snap. Slide the shorter leader on your main line so it slides back and forth then tie the longer leader on, attach your Sluggo's, cast and hand on. I like to use a smaller Sluggo up front and a larger one in back to resemble the bigger fish chasing the smaller one.

Not an ideal setup.  First, you have to count on that Palomar being pulled and twisted through the hook holding up to the hookset and ensuing fight.  I can't tell you how many DS weights I've lost, but caught the fish.  The other issue is the hookset itself; how do you know whether to cross its eyes, or sweep set, depending on what bait it hit.

it is very legal in tounaments. we use them alot out west i use one swivel with two lines like most say one shorter than the other jert the bait and waiyt a second use it like a jerk bait works great

When I rig the double fluke rig, I use a Super Fluke on the shorter leader and a Fluke on the longer one about 6" apart. The three-way swivel is the least troublesome with the least line tangling. I just use shad patterns. Doubles are common when around schools of bass.

I buy those pre-rigged worms at Wally World - take the worm off and either throw it away or use it on a drop-shot and hook flukes on both of the hooks - works great - never thought about using senkos this way until this tread though - might work - will have to try it.

I have fished it many times.I have never caught fish on both at the same time but it does work.  Rig it the same as a drop shot but with heavier line and regular fluke hooks with leader about 36" long.  Work it like you do a Texas worm rig.  It Works.

It works better with two barrel swivels. You will hook two fish eventually, and you don't want two fish pulling each other with you pulling on the other end. Plus, the following rig gives way better action.
