I bought these a while ago, and haven't thrown many swim baits or cranks, but need to grow confidence in them. I'm going fishing tonight, and want to dedicate a while to throwing this guy. How would you guys do it, what kind of retreive would you use? HELP!

I personally would throw it the same place and depth I throw my spinnerbaits and lipless cranks. About 8' of water on top of grass.

steady retrieve with short pauses here n there.,,and seeing that thats a storm lure,i know some of them have weight in the nose so it looks like a bedding bait (raiding beds for eggs) if thats the case then fish it like you would a shaky worm,just bounce it off the bottom.

Looks Like a Storm bait. Don't use them much but I did get a nice one last spring blindly casting it to known bass spawning areas. casts like a bullet if I remember. O.K. action.

Ahh........Storm Wildeye Live Crappie. Steady retrieve off the bootom, lift and drop the rod tip slightly. The hit is usually just a light tap. Your line might just go slack. Add scent. Slam the hooks in when ya get the chance. I caught a 15' Crappie on one 'o those. LOL. BTW, I like the "Crappie" pic, LOL....................................

I would probably throw that similar to a lipless crankbait.  That is assuming you have some heavier line on your reel.

  Yeah, the crappie are only medium sized 'round here............ I caught a bass today, but it wasn't real big, so I got a couple buddies to help me throw it back.

Cast it in the weeds. Let it fall a little. Retrieve it steady, letting it fall every now and then.

If you do this, hope fully you can catch a 15 foot Crappie like the guy above.

I agree steady retrieve with some twitches.  If you remove the lower treble hook u can fish them on hard bottoms too.

i threw it for a while last night, not even an interest. so i went to the trusty buzzbait. 2 dinks. DOH! i dont think the water was all that deep though. i'm shore bound with no electronics.

  Theres your problem.....dusk??? Stick  with the buzzbait. Also, don't use that in murky water, please. Not the bet idea. Its intended for still, clear waters. It won't have enough vibration and color to be seen in murky water. I'd stick with a smaller soinnerbait, say 1/8 white.

NA. I'm almost due West of you in North AR. That doesn't mean, tho, that my advice will work for you.

What are the fish that you are hunting for feeding on? If they are on a craw frenzie, a truck-load of Jumbo Shrimp with a 'FREE' sign wont entice them. You also need to match the lure to the size of the food they are eating.

With that said, I do have good results with lures of that type. But (and that's a big ol' BUT) they are for targeting fish in the way that you would use a crankbait. I've not found them to be very productive in low light or windy conditions unless a westerly wind (West to East) was driving baitfish into the shoreline. They excell in that condition if you match Size and Color. I never use them at night just because they don't work here. It might be diff for your lake.
