Ive had my eye on the speed spool for a while now. For under $100 it sure has good reviews. Ive been looking to get a good lightweight combo for all around lures mostly worms/swim jigs/square bills/spinnerbaits. What do you guys think? the veritas or the vendetta?

Both are great rods for the money. I personally like vendetta a little better because I have not broken one, but I have broke one veritas. The Veritas is a little lighter and maybe a hair more sensitive though.

If you want a solid rod for the money, get the Vendetta. If you want a better rod, with a 1000% better chance of it snapping or guides breaking off, get the Veritas.

It's worth the extra $20, but you're taking a bigger gamble that you'll be out a rod when you need it on the water.

I have read quite a lot on this site and 4-5 others of the breakage issues with Veritas.

I've had 8 Veritas rods. Still have 6. Didn't like the action of 1 so I sold it. Upgraded to a Verdict rod and sold the other. Caught several bass up to 5 lbs on the Veritas, no problem. Hung up baits in bushes and trees and shook, yanked and pulled vigorously, no problem. Hung baits in submerged limbs, rocks and veg, shook, yanked and pulled vigorously, no problems.

Rods were smacked against walls, dropped on bare aluminum decks and popped against ceilings, no problems.

8 rods, 1 year +, no problems.

I'm sure there's a trail of tangled webs.

I also find it quite remarkable no other brand of rod seems to break. Things that make you go hmmm ...

Well I wanted one did some research and to me there were too many reports of them breaking. Didnt take long to find this just search -veritas broke-, 3-4 people just on this thread had issues and search found many more.

I wont link to other site/forums but like I mentioned to me just too many reports so I past. BrandOn can form his own conclusion just giving more info for him to research

Should I add the Carbonlite, Crucial, Compre, NRX, Carrot Stix, Duckett rod breakage links too? I mean, why stop with one brand of rod, right?

Got my first Veritas beginning of this year, didn't have many problems when using it except one good snag.

I actually had a backlash with I went to throw a jig, and spent about 5 minutes carefully picking it out. When I went to retrieve, the jig was good and stuck.

Well I pulled and pulled on that snag. I pulled the boat up to where it was caught, I couldn't touch the lure cause the water was too deep where I was. I eventually just got aggrivated and gave it one good "hook set." I pulled the boat about 2 inches down into the water, my line was screeching from the tention and finally... !

I bent a hook straight.

I wouldn't doubt some of these lower priced rods have a higher rate of imperfections that may contribute to a failure, but I'd bet there are a lot more people that are happy with there rods than the ones having problems.

I broke one of my veritas rods, but I still really like them.

I have both. The Vendetta is a solid rod and I use it frequently but the Veritas is in heavier rotation.

I prefer the sensitivity and reduced weight of the Veritas over the Vendetta.

Have both, like the vendetta better. Already had two guides replaced on the veritas. Love them both, just sayin'!
