Been looking into getting a Poison Tail mold, but after using the Owner Cutting Point hooks in my brush jigs all year, I don't know if I want to go back to Mustads... So does anyone know if there is a Gamakatsu or Owner (preferably Owner) hook that will work in the Poison Tail mold?

The short answer, as far as I know, is no.

That mold uses a 30* bend hook. I don't think that Gamakatsu even offers a 30* hook and Owner's 30* hook has the crossed eye. You could probably modify the mold to use the Owner hooks, though.

Owner does make one. Your going to pay for it. They only make it swimbait hook. You would have to remove the spring and then use the hook. Cost is prohibitive imo. I wish they would make one for us jig makers.

I never thought about it, but you're right. Their Twist Lock hooks are about 30 degrees... That would be very expensive though like you said. They really should make a 30* Cutting Point hook with a regular eye, cause I don't think the flat eye 30* hook would work as good coming through cover in the Poison Tail jig.

Looking on eBay, I found some Gamakatsu 35* hooks. Never seen them before, you guys think they'll work?

I have some Gami's 28-30 degree hooks I had custom made about 2 years ago for a production run. Let me know what size Poison Tail you are loooking at. It is a Gami wide gap, round bend 4/0 hook. It will fit the 3/8 oz P.T with only eyelet modification. On the 1/2 oz and up size it will fit each cavity no problem with no cavity modification. If you're interested PM me. cadman, Thanks for the offer! I will probably get getting the smaller of the two molds sometime towards the end of the month. When I do, I'll shoot you a PM.

It looks like I will probably go with the straight shank Mustads (not the EWG) for swimjig purposes, and buy myself a few packs of Owner TwistLock Finesse hooks for a handful of smaller baits.
