Need A Better Way To Take Pics By My Self??

Featured Replies

I know there has to be a lot of us that fish along a lot. And know a good way to take pictures of our catch?

Heres one from this year not a good way but it did make it easy for me .

Several options:

Tripod, using the cameras timer - More of a hassel for those that are shore bound, but you can set it up when you arrive and leave it at the same spot until you leave. You should be fine since you have a boat. Correct focus is something I have yet to figure out.

Arms length is good if you're caught off-guard. Most of the time the picture will come out well.

The laydown - I don't really like this one as you don't get a good idea of the actual size of the fish.

I also use what I call a "gaper shot".

Lots of options, but ideally someone will walk by and snap a picture or two. I always take at least two shots from every angle as one might come out blurry or overexposed.

Edit: Just try and ALWAYS remember to bring a camera, even if it is something like a small Canon that is the size of a phone and fits in your pocket. The third to last picture was with my iPhone and obviously didn't come out too well.

Hope this helps some.

Check this thread. Should be right up your alley.

My problem is I'm so ugly I break all my camera. Lol

I use a video camera that has a remote control and does stills.

I put the camera on a mount attached to a pole that fits my back deck seat pedistal socket. I turn the display towards me, compose the picture and take a snapshot or video using the remote.

I know what the picture will look like before I take it.

Man make me feel like a total dumb Bass, Forgot about my vidoe camara having a remote... Always use my old Sony Camara in the boat. But guess now the Vidoe camara will be adde also.

I have an old table top tripod that I took the pad from the bottom of one leg. I take the seat off the back pedestal and insert the leg of the tripod into the pedestal. works like a charm.

Get a pocket camera, and Gorilla Pod, and you're all set to go!

Now there is a man who knows how to fish and look good doing it too lol !!!!

By the way thanks for the pic NICE FISH !!!

I'm a bank fisherman and normally fish alone so I've been going with the laydown photos. If I try to take a pic of my hand holding up a bass it always comes out making the bass look much smaller. Here is a laydown photo I took yesterday morning. I also added another pic of a tape measure next to the rod and resized it and copied it with photoshop. I think it shows the catch was decent, but nothing compares to having someone take a pic of u holding your catch or using a tripod and timer Fat G does.

just wanted to say theres a good chance your killing fish when you lay them on the ground. they might live a few days and seem fine when you release them but it does something to their slime and they will get parasites or something and die... i used to do it all the time myself so don't think i'm trying to preach to you but i read about it in several places and it seems your putting the fish at a great risk of skin infection if you lay them on the ground . sometimes you have no choice and i understand but i'm just letting you know.. again i did it for years myself so don't think i'm trying to be rude i'm just passing on the info.

Will be using my video camara this way, just one of those deals did not even give the remote any thought. But I have a little tripod on it now. And it fits inside of one of my seat pestials. But just was not thinking of using the remote.
