Ok! New to the site, Hi, my name is tom and I have been bass fishing since 4 yrs old, now 42, got the wife "Paula" into fishing a couple years ago at age 50, so glad i did. love having her with me. Fish finger lake region of NY the most. Anyway since I got her involved, she has talked me into purchasing a hummingbird 898si. Well for a guy that has only used a fish finder for depth and temp, what a mess. Any advise i can get, of a school or sites or just your help would so much be appriciated. Thanks again!

Welcome! Sorry, can't help with the Hummingbird.Good Luck!

I can't help with that particular sonar. My Eagle has a tutorial that I look at from time to time to learn ther ins and outs of the unit.. I am blessed to have my boat in a heated garage so I can look at the unit at anytime. You could rig yours up to a battery and go through the tutorial if the unit has the feature.

Welcome to BR Tom.

Welcome Home! There's a ton of folks here that know a lot about that model. I suggest asking questions in the boating forum. I think you'll get a lot of responses there.

go to bassedge.com they have a dvd called electronics and deep fishing 101 for only $15. it tells you how to use any brand of sonar.

Welcome to the site. Glad to have you with us.

Post your query in the Bass Boats section. You should receive some excellent feedback.

Sorry I can not be of assistance as I have Lowrance units.
