I realize everyone wants a line to be invisible in the water, but what line would help you be able to see it when casting? In high winds it is difficult to see if your line has drifted over stumps etc. if you can't see it! This would be used primarily for bass fishing.

There are some really bright colored gold tones out there. I use yellow braid but it is a bear in the wind. When in clear water you could add a fluro leader if the color bothers you.

Power Pro makes a high vis yellow braid. I remember seeing a flourescent orange line somewhere too, but I can't seem to find it.

I picked up some 12 lb. Siege Orange for line watching (with a BC reel) at the end of last year. Looks like it should do the trick.

I use it fpor trout fishing, mostly so I can see where my float rig is headed. A fluoro leader is usually a must. For bass fishing, I've caught plenty of fish on moving baits with the orange line.

Berkley TransOptic has an orange tint above water when exposed to the sun's UV rays, but the tint diminishes underwater. I like it for jig fishing.

PowerPro Hi-Vis Yellow in 10 lb test is sweet. My eyes are getting older and that extra visibility is a must. Wind can be an issue on spinning reels, esp. if you don't close the bail by hand. But if you can make the wind your friend you'll be good-to-go. I tend to go heavier on baitcasters.

I like the PP in 10 because it is 2lb in diameter. Other brands' 10 lb braid is more like 4 lb test. I use 1000 size reels for bass fishing, so prefer as much line on there as I can get.

I do use a leader, but did an experiment taking a black Sharpie to the first 3' of line tied directly to the hook. Caught a number of bass that day. Went back to P-Line Floroclear, (and other brands) leader though. And most of what I do on spinning gear is soft plastics, not a lot of fast moving stuff. So IMO a leader is best.

I do have Sufix Performance Braid in 30 lb test orange but don't use it much. Really like the brightness, but found the waxy coating stripped off a bit faster than the PP. YMMV.

I am retired and fish just for fun. My tour. days are behind me. Anyway my lady friend likes to fish for bass also. She likes Stren Hi/Vis Gold mono and I like Berkley Trilene XL clear/blue. Strictly lure fishing. Some days she catches more than me and some days I catch more that her. Am I ready to switch to gold line???????? NO. I guess I am too stubborn to change.
