Question About 1994 Nitro Bass Boat Size

Featured Replies

Hello folks, boating newbie here! I'm looking at an 18 1/2 foot 1994 Nitro this weekend with a 150hp outboard. The trouble is that it is two hours away, the owner isnt sure on its complete size and I have a small one stall garage!

I need to know the complete length of the boat from where the Trailer hitches to the end of the outboards propeller! Also the width of the boat would be helpful!

Can anyone help with this? I need to know before I make the trip!

Tell him to mesure. That's what I did when before I went over to see it.

You need to know the length of the package, from the hitch (unless it has a folding tongue) to the back of the motor. Keep in mind, overall it will be longer with the motor tilted up. I have a Z-7 with a folding tongue on the trailer. My garage is 24 feet deep, on the outside of the building, a bit less on the inside.

I have about a foot and a half to spare with the motor tilted up. If the tongue did not fold, it would not fit. If I tilted the motor down, I'd gain over an extra foot of clearance between the back wall and the door. Maybe two feet.

The thing is, if you tilt the motor down to make it fit, you have to remember to tilt it back up before you hit the road.

Is this boat in Memphis by chance? Seems I have seen that photo on a craigslist add before! If so I can go measure it for you, but if not, be careful as I have seen this photo somewhere!

I have seen this listing in Indiana I believe. Don't quote me on that, but I have seen it and I don't look for boats in Memphis.

My boat is 18'11". With trailer ( fixed not folding tongue) and motor tipped up in trailering position I have about 6" space in a 25' garage. Like said before ask him to measure it. If he can't do that he doesn't want to sell it very bad. Over all width can also be an issue.

A fixed tongue can be adapted to a folding model but I have no idea as to cost for the conversion.

Sounds like you need to stay away from this!!!

Be careful, this sounds mighty "fishy" to me.

Thanks guys,

I measured my garage and it is exactly 22' 3" deep with a garage door opening of 9'. The guy may have used a different photo. When I asked him about the condition of the boat he wrote back" I'm not much of a boat person. It does not have any trolling motor on it. It has two graphs on it, not sure what they are for." It makes me wonder if he ever even had the boat winterized, let alone, know what kind of condition the boat is in!

On a another forum, I was told that a new Nitro would be a hair over 22' long with the swing tongue folded and the motor down and to the left.... Hmmm.... this sounds risky...

Not sure where you are from but this boat is currently listed on Minneapolis Craigslist. But says he lives in Rochester Listed 1 February.........Becareful if others have seen it, in other places, I would be sure it is a scam.
