Crank bait storage MESS

Featured Replies

My crank baits are a storage nightmare. When I go to change a crank bait by the time I get the hooks untangled the suns gone down. I'm thinking about buying those hook covers they use for treble hooks. Any ideas besides separate compartments?

if ur familiar with tackle boxes that have the walls/sides "or watever u want to call it" with notches in  it for spinnerbaits....i jus hang my cranks on them by the front hook

The first thing I would do is go through and take out the crankbaits that I never use.  When I did that I went from around 100 crankbaits down to around 30.

Take a look at the Falcon crankbait boxes.  Very good way to keep the neat and ready to use.

The Falcom boxes work.  I use the whole set up

if there is a bass pro near you go there and take a look at their new hardbait organizer. they come in 2 different sizes. if not check out the website. each one will hold about 40 baits. i use mine for cranks, poppers and jigs. this is an awesome tray and costs $9.99

this tray is double sided and has V shaped channels that hold the lures and keep the hooks from tanglin up. i have one myself and it is by far the best way i have ever found. check it out and let me know what you think. i like it better than the falcon because you can put more of a variety of lures in the tray. you dont need a special tray for each type of lure like falcons do

I use those hook covers (or hook bonnets as they are called).  I really like them, because your hooks never tangle and the hooks don't rub against the other lures in the same compartment.  The main reason I bought them was because my 5 year old nephew was looking at my crankbaits and stuck himself (he's obsessed with looking at my lures).  With the hook covers I don't have to worry about him getting into my crankbaits and hurting himself with the side benefits mentioned above.

I use the Falcon FTO & they're great. Once I start fishing, I use the plug rug (it's a rubber mat I bought at NorthernBass.com) to keep the cranks in one place & also from getting tangled up inside the boat.

Those Falcon boxes are the best IMO. I also have the entire set.
