I know you usually get what you pay for but I was wondering how you guys feel about BPS tournament special crankbaits. For $2.00 a pop how can you go wrong??The rattles sound great,my opinion. The hooks seem a bit chincy, but those can be changed affordably.They seem to have decent action in the water.Im just saying I think a man could build a heck of a crankbait arsenol with these on a budget. Then could upgrade from there.

If you like the price, the quality, and they catch fish for you - what's not to like?  Lots of guys build a crankbait arsenal around inexpensive brands like BPS, Cabelas, Academy Sports, Bandit, etc.  I bought some BPS cranks years ago and didn't like them.  But perhaps BPS has switched or improved the quality of the contractor that builds that bait line for them.  The old saying - Beauty is as beauty does - applies.  

i own many-a-bps brand baits,

though they may not be anything "spectacular", they still hold their own in my fishing arsenal......

though there are many other baits that i would prefer at times..... the price is nice...

cheap, and still attract fish.....

I was thinking of doing the same thing....BPS is not to far from here...was wondering how good they worked...ya know how some baits do retrieve right , swim on there sides... a floating lure sinks to the bottom... I think I'll give them a try, can get a lot of lures for the money.

BPS cranks are ok. For me, the Academy H2O are the best "house brand" baits out there.

The tourney special baits are worth the price but not a penny more, cheap components, ho-hum action and colors.  The lipless cranks are pretty good for throwing when you know you're gonna loose one.

You said it yourself , "you get what you pay for."

I  like them and they catch pretty well.The only problem is getting a hold of one of the "good ones" As with most any crank they are not all equal. They are great for tossing in those hidden depths full of snarly brush.You won't have to go on prozac after you lose one.

good one lol I ve got a top water hanging in the brush that I'm going to have to swim the river to get back, and it's not a high dollar one. No prozac needed yet LOL

You can buy a lure for $2 or u can buy 1 for $20. Either one will catch or not catch fish on any given day. I have expensive lures that have never produced anything and cheap lures that clean house. If you like it and are on a budget give it a shot. Remember its not a fashion show. I have fished tournaments with people who are using garbage rods and reels, not to mention their line and have out fished me and my Pflueger reels and St. Croix rods. I say get em and try em.

A long time ago I bought some cranks at the local Walmart for $1 each. They were small, fat bodied cranks that I wanted to use in this thick timber as an experiement, and if I lost one it wasn't a big deal. They turned out to be awesome little cranks that just would not get stuck in some nastly looking timber. I have caught fish all over the US on them. Now I wish I could find more. I found some on Ebay about a year ago and paid $25 for 3 baits with shipping...so yes you get what you pay for  ;D
