Spring Lures By Hank Parker

Well, with all due respect to Mr. Parker, he's missing one "Must Have" and my two favorite lures classes!

We don't need to argue about the pros and cons of the A-Rig on this thread, but like it or not, if you fish

tournments where The Rig is allowed, you don't have a chance of winning without it this year.

The second "missing piece" is the hard body jerkbait. This is my most productive technique this time of

year when I fish from a boat. I don't fish them much from shore simply because you cannot retrieve hang-

ups. Fishing a jerkbait is my favorite presentation!

Third would be most fishermen's pride and joy, topwater. I cannot imagine why Hank would leave this out.

Is there anyone that doesn't fish topwater in the spring? I have never met the guy that doesn't fish this

presentation this time of year.

Well, the "rig" was legal for the tournament I fished this W/E, and I guess everyone was scared to get it out. Was won on a floating Rouge. I finished 4th flipping soft plastics, which is what 2nd place guys were throwing, cause I was close enough to see them. The jerkbait did the trick, and never saw the "rig" get thrown, and believe me, everyone had one in their boat.......kind of funny, cause I was expecting to see it.

I'm headed to Florence, AL this weekend. I expect the spring bite to be in full swing.

Topwater and a jerkbait will lead the way, followed by a square bill or spinnerbait.

Swimbaits will be in the mix and at some point, The Rig, but from 10:00 - 2:00 probably

nothin' but the Rage Tail Lobster, keel weighted.
