I have always had a preconceived notion that the Bassmaster Elite series was the premier trail with the best anglers on the planet. However after watching the UMF series that had FLW and Elites series pros and the Major league fishing show i'm starting to think that maybe the best anglers are on the FLW tour. I know some flip flop between the two but allot are either Elite anglers or FLW anglers. In UMF i don't recall any of the Elites series guys beating the FLW guys. And now to add to it, the only FLW guy to be in MLF..... WON!. He had a 1 in 24 chance with all other guys being mainly Elite series. Is this coincidence or has the bassmaster people just done a better job of promoting there anglers as the best?

Could it be the FLW series angler used an alabama rig while the Elite series pros didn't bother with it? I say the Elite series pros are the better anglers, while UMF is a one on one matchup, the overall format has a lot of luck involved unlike a 4 day tournament but everytime I see one of the elite anglers fish an FLW event they seem to dominate it, in fact it happened so much with Ike that FLW began making anglers pick and pay for tournaments 6 months in advance and they can no longer cherry pick events, I like that rule but it was done in part to keep elite guys from showing up FLW circut only anglers. Both series feature great anglers, there is no disputing that but I think the top 25 elite series guys are slightly better than the top 25 FLW anglers.

That's true although McClelland did throw the A rig for a bit as well as used a spinnerbait. Also one other thing to note is that according to bass rankings an flw guy is number 1 in the world.

Even though luck does play a part in umf you would think that at least one elite guy would win and in the case of mlf Ehler was the only one from flw. That's a 4% vs 96% chance that flw guy would win.

If the bass are on a morning bite and you have control of the boat during the second and fourth period you're screwed.

Fun show to watch but in noway shows who is a better angler!

Just watched the first MLF fishing debut on the Outdoor Channel with Jason Quinn using the A rig and Brent Ehler just making the elimination rod within the last 3 min. This is a really good format with no practice and having to figure it out on the fly. All the anglers are great anglers on the b.a.s.s. or flw and I just enjoy watching them compete.

I think you are right. Plus a lot depends on the coin toss as to who gets what quarters to fish.

Ask Luke Clausen which one is better Na i got a buddy that's out with the FLW this year and after hearing something about the way that series runs I would say that its about an even draw. Bass just has more exposure with everyone so we know their guys a whole lot better than we know the FLW guys. Ill admit i dont make as much of an effort to catch the FLW show every sunday but I will to catch the Elite tournament.

B.A.S.S. has KVD, game over

Both have some great anglers, but it's hard to draw a conclusion based on by far the best FLW angler (IMO) fishing well against BASS Elite guys in MLF. I would say the top maybe 5 or so would be pretty even, but that BASS would have a stronger top 25.

Once you get to that level they are all good. I do not think one series has better anglers over the other.
