For the longest time, I have been putting a drop of super glue at the knot when I tie my spinner baits. I use 17# suffix and can never get a perfect knot on the spinnerbait wire. I'm fine when I tie cranks and other sorts of lures, but when it comes to spinnerbaits I just dap a lil super glue on. Is this okay? It woks for me. Just don't wanna lose my expensive spinnerbaits.

With that line, you should be able to tie an improved clinch knot with no trouble, and no glue necessary. Time to start practicing your knots!

Yup, knot tying is a skill that requires some practice, much like casting. As a side note, CA super glues are not waterproof. As a backup adhesive on a knot or plastic bait holder they work fine but epoxies are a better choice for under water adhesive applications.

No way I would be satisfied with doing that. Practice your knots like previously said. There are some great knots out there that you can learn that will save you from a lot of heart ache if you take the time to practice. If you have an ipod...knotwars is a great app that can teach you how to do it.

Some people like glue to smooth out the knot coming thru the guides, and I've read others use glue to strengthen a knot ties to a lure or hook. Tieing a proper knot in the first place is really all you need to do. What ever knots you are comfortable with, those are the ones to use. I am not a good knot tier, I stick to a few of the most basic ones, yet they hold fish of all sizes with few failures.

Some lines will slip with that knot, Hi-Seas Black Widow is a really slick copoly that has terrible knot strength due to how slick it is. P=Line CXX is tough too with an improved clinch, the best knot I've found for slick line is the palomar, it is very easy to tie and it holds great even with slick line.

Im one of those people. It becomes a little harder and does go through the line guide easier with less wear and tear on the connection knot.

Try the San Diego Jam knot,which is a improved clinch knot tied backwards.It is a very strong knot that will not slip!
