Looking to buy two new rods, one will be a caster the other a spinning rod. Both will be St. Croix, my dad has always used them and he passed down that confidence in St. Croix to me. I am only trying to decide which series to get, I have narrowed it down to the mojo series and the triumph series.I have heard a lot of good things about the mojo series and they seem to be good rods and are affordable. On the other hand my ultra-light is a triumph and I love it. What do yall thank?

Basically, they're the same rod. Both series are made in Mexico on the SCII blank with the same components. The Mojo has a split grip and the Triumph has a full grip. There might be a couple models in the Mojo that aren't available in the Triumph. Other than color, that's the only difference.

I have a Triumph rod, 6' 6" M (spinning) and I'm not impressed. Of all of my rods its probably my least favorite. In fact I picked up a Berkley Lightning rod that was LT half the price of the Triumph and I prefer it over the Triumph. The Triumph usually stays home these days. I just found the Triumph to be very "whippy" and not particularly sensitive.

A rod in the same price range as the Triumph that I really like is the Fenwick HMX.

I can't speak to the Mojo because I've never used one and I know the high end St Croix rods have a lot of enthusiastic users. I'd love to try one some day, but I was very disappointed with the Triumph.

I love my St.Croix rods and have Triumphs, Premiers, Mojos, Rages, Avids, LTB, even one of the discontinued Classic Catfish rods. Of all their rods I own the Triumph is by far my least favorite. It's not a bad rod, just doesn't feel good in my hand and doesn't seem very sensitive at all. I've got several Mojos and really like them. I know a lot of people complain about them being tip heavy, which they kind of are, but not enough that it bothers me. They've been very good rods for me and have stood up to a lot. If you're patient you might be able to find a couple Avids or Rage rods that have been used. I bought my Avid that I use for jerkbaits (6' 2" M/XF) used for $50. It's got some scuffs and scratches but works just as good as when it was new and obviously cost less than a new Triumph.

Even a used st croix rod isn't bad, I suggest looking around for a deal on any rod they make
