Been kinda playing a little game the past few outings. One day I make a cast past the corner of where a bluff wall makes a 90 degree turn and I caught a fish on a crankbait. A week later I do it exactly the same as before and same thing ,same spot,same bait(different color)...another fish. 3 weeks later...well you know what im getting at. How does this occur? What's the likelihood of calling shots like that?

I would say its very likely to catch fish in the same spot over and over. I have fav spots that produce like that and thats how they get to be fav spots.
Ill add there is one spot on lake that has a 10' lenght of cat tails that jut out 4' or so and this spot holds fish all the time really no other structure for 100' left/right of it.

Good spots will hold fish more often then not. One of the local lakes I fish has a culvert that is almost completely submerged sticking out of a rock bank and covered with shoreline weeds. I can almost always catch a fish out of that culvert. It has fresh water flowing in, offers good cover, holds lots of baitfish, so it attracts bass to it. In your case I'd guess there are probably several fish on a spot like that which increases your chances of catching a fish each time you come to it.

Yup I have several go to honey holes for when my lucks down and i'm struggling to get bit i go there get a fish then move on and seem to do better. Me and my nephew will hit a few we'll float up call it and throw a bait in and see if we catch it we usually do. We have one fish we've been catching for a few years now every spring post spawn same 10ft stretch of water on a white and gold spinner every single year shes gotten big over the years. the fish in question has one eye and a scar that's how we know its the same fish.

My dad called me on Monday and was estatic about how many Bass he had caught off this one spot he found in Nickajack Lake. From 3pm to 9pm he had landed 37 Bass that ranged from 2 to 5lbs. Tuesday evening he went back there and caught 28 Bass in the same range. Wednesday he caught 32 Bass from 2-5lb Range. ALL From the same spot. I was so happy for him, he's 68 and when he was on the phone with me he sounded like a little kid he was so happy. Meanwhile, I go fishing yesterday for 4 hours in the evening and didn't catch the first fish. Sure do wish I lived closer to that hole he found, hehe.

Anyway, it's very possible to do what you did when you find a piece of structure with the proper cover. Bass will stack in there to feed time and time again.

I have a spot like that. I usually hit it at least once if I'm on that end of the lake. Twice in 20+ years it has failed to yield a fish, and it has only given up a couple of dinks, most of them have been 3+. It is really strange, that spot has changed a lot over the years, and even had a boat house put in right next to it. It is a fish magnet.

Just means you are getting better. Expect more of this.

I have spots my dad will draw me a quick map sketch of how to get to and tell me how he hasn't been there sense before I was born(im 25) and that he used to catch all kinds of bass and pike there. I'll go to said spots usually long over grown and forgotten trekking my way threw some woods find the spot and start nailing em every cast some times. I'd frequent the spots more often but he always seems to tell me spots like 3 miles off the road threw some woods across the farmers fields down the hill around the old barn and threw more woods to get to it I don't know how the hell he ever found these honey holes back in the day lol.

As a young man he wasn't distracted by things like cable TV, Xbox, computers, etc., so he spent his time exploring. It's just a shame our kids won't grow up the same way.

IDK i got the gene from my pops i think my boys did to noah will be 3 on Monday and he takes his little power wheels tractor to the horse barn scoops up crap with the bucket then heads for the woods to "feed the baby coyotes" i followed him one day staying just outta sight seeing what he will do hes got no fear of the woods or water which is kinda scary but id rather have that then a obese toddler who has tons of allergies and stays in side. I'll be damned if my boys grow up in front of a computer screen unless the screens on BR and there using it to show me up on the water.

also i noticed a pattern with all my dads good fishing spots, his last visits were all before I was born. Which is ok because I can remember as far back as i can being just a little guy fishing with him he probably gave up the spots because he couldn't take his toddler back there.

I caught the same fish once in the same spot back to back casts lol I think it had a thing for top water mice catch release swam to same hole in the cat tails in about 1.5ft of water my next case ran parallel to it and it darted right back out and got hooked again.
