  1. the smart move would be to come back on here and apologize. All he would have to do is say he recieved bad information that he belived to be credible. It makes it hard to pick on a guy when he is admits to making a mistake. It would be no big deal and everybody would forget about it. The biggest bass ever documanted and photoed were 25 and 24lbs. I doubt a bigger bas will ever be caught. as for the WR it cna be broke. a couple bigger fish have been caught so most likely sombody will do it right and break the recoed. People seem to think there are 22 lb bass alive and swimming around. I highly doubt this. They put on weight(not egg weight) to prepare for the spawn. At the same time they do put on around 2lbs of egg weight. Plus after they eat a big meal a regular 18lb bass can get real close to Perry's mark. It is a very small window of perfect timing for a few potential fish each year. Plus each lake goes through cycles. they don just keep making 20lbers. So Cal is the obvious favorite. As long as the Share a lunker program is still going Texas will never get there and Fl hasent produced a certifeid 20. Too many big fish are kept there. I think CA and MX are the only possabilities now or in the near future
  2. Wow what terribly wrong statements about Rivers. first he is not arrogant at all. I have been to a bunch of the games. When he is talking, its in fun. He is playing with the fans. When they showed him on film, Cutler was running his mouth. Cutler started talking smack to several chargers players including Rivers. Rivers talked some back with the cameras on him. Not talented enough HAH !!!!!! Peyton and Brady are the only QB's that are better and they are barley better. Breese, Eli, and Rothlesburger are about equal to Rivers. He is the best QB still playing right now. Look at his numbers. If any of you actually seen him in action in person and seen how he interacted with the fans you wouldn't have such ridiculous slams on MR RIVERS. Plus last year he had 2 ligaments operated on right after the chargers beat Indy and he played the entire championship game against the Pats 3 days after surgery. I wouldn't trade him for any QB in the league! The Chargers will host and beat the Ravens in 2 weeks
  3. Bedman you biologist is wrong! he was most likely trying to pusuade guys from keeping fish in thier wells for a long time. How do I know he is wrong? Well many years ago I used to get paid to stock and manage private ponds. I would catch fish from local lakes and have them in my well sometimes all day. Then I would bring them home and keep them in a kiddy pool with aireator. When I would collect enough fish(sometimes a couple weeks) I would put them in coolers and drive them to the the ponds to stock. None of them died. many of these fish were caught durring hot summer months to. Now I wouldnt do this now as it is illegal to transport live fish, but I learned a ton about pond management and bassbehavior. This was about 15 years ago. ONE HUGE POINT about C&R out here in CA the biggest reason we have huge fish is they are released to get bigger. That is one major reason you dont see many high teen fish in TX. they keep them all for the SAL. FL is/was soo bad about keeping big bass that they basicaly ruined their chances for WR bass. Huge bass cant get huge when they are kept at 14lbs. who knows that fish might have made it to 20. Replicas are superior in every possible way. keep the 2lbers let the big ones go!!!
  4. it was clean with perfect fins and bright markings. the eyes were only a little bugged out. I am sure it was 10 years old or so but it still has some years left. most big fish out here look OLD. Ratty fins, scars, huge bugged out eyes, almost no body markings just black. Not all but most. It just looked young to me, Without a scale sample I am realy just geussing
  5. earlier this year I caught 2 fish bigger then that on the same day. I released them both. nothing can compare to the feeling of watching them swim off back where they came. I got weights and pics and thats all I need. I can always do replicas later if I choose. Now I know where 2 monsters live. They are still there and the bigger one was a young fish. I hope to catch them both again and I will release them again only this time they might be pushing 18-19lbs. a year or 2 after that and I might not release them. As long as either one is over 22.4 if I get one that weighs 22.3 its going back and I wont even need to think about it. Whats there to think about? If its not "the fish" then I am going to give it a chance to be "the fish"
  6. Paul is very humble but he doesnt have to be. You are a hellova stick Paul. 09 should be another great yeay for you!
  7. My Chargers will get revenge and blow out the donkeys by 20 points They will be dangerous heading into the playoffs
  8. I agree. I think my favorite color was pumpkin seed because I figured I could throw it durring daytime but I never did. I do think the black at night thing is just a habit/myth. Yes it works and is thought of as the standard night color but I have found it doesnt realy matter. I also throw buzzers at night and white and chartruse work just as good as black. That whole siloette thing is bogus. In reality if that was true, white would be the best bottom color and black would be the best top water. The only color I have found that I couln not get bit on is glow. The fish must be afraid of it. Funny thing is even though I know black is not better then any other color at night, if given a choice and its all equal I pick black ha ha
  9. Bizz PW are my go to worm at night. i like the stink. I have bought different colors and had the same results. I realy doubt that minor color difference make any difference at night. I generaly throw dark worms at night but I usualy bought the odd dark colors in the bargin bins. It made no difference. Now in the day time it cane make a huge difference but I throw my own hand pours.
  10. You would think I would know ha ha. The baby bass sinks about 1 ft per second and the gills sink a little slower.
  11. Yes the bait in the video is a floater. The billed version is a wake bait. It is designed to throw off a big wake at slow speeds. It doesnt realy dive.
  12. The ROF 13 has 1 large hook on top. If you dont rig a belly hook then Its not too bad. If you have the belly hook and the top hook it gets snagges a lot. A bait knocker is a must. They are great anyways for all baits.
  13. 90% of the sinkers would be about a rof 8. I had some earlier floaters that didnt float because The top coat was too heavy and the hooks were too heavy. Those are the ones that sank real slow. The ones that sank a little faster were the sinkers with the heavy top coat. I used this top coat(thick epoxy) on the first 100. I am using a top coat now thats not as heavy so the sinkers are more consistant at around a rof 8
  14. I saw some phantum trout at a show and I thought they looked good. As for the ROF the 5 is great when your fishing shallow or over weeds. The 12 is the most comon used out here in deeper lakes. The 16 sinks fast and the 0 floats. The o is realy for deadsticking as it doesnt have much action compared to the others. Basicaly I 2nd what Branuss04 said
  15. Paul Jigs are super easy to make. I could teach anybody to make one in about 5 min. If you cant find your exact jig then make them. Look up Do-it molds and find a mold that fits your needs. You can hand pick your hooks too. Paint the head and buy a bunch of premade skirts. I am not kidding about how easy it is. If you do try it(or anybody else here) and you have any questions along the way just ask. I can walk you through it.
  16. Now see here is a perfect example of why NOT to get a skin mount. Your mount looks as good as any skin mouny could ever look and most dont ever look as good as yours does right now. The greatest advantage is, you could dust your off in ten years and it will look just like it does now. A skin mount will show decay and yellowing and its age at even 10 years. At 20 years most skin mount look terrible!! Your mount at 20 years will need to be dusted again !!! that is very good Taxidermy. I am glad you chose not to go with a skin mount or a less then good taxidermist. If I may, how much did it cost?
  17. He would care if it was his livelyhood and he couldnt pay his bills becuase his market was taken from him by some company copying his design and selling it for half the price. Just so you guys know, the original design of this type of bait was the kick tail. all 3 of these baits are "inspired" from the kick tail design. The kick tail had a durability issue with its joints and the colors werent very good. It also never lived up to the hype in its ads.It never realy made it. I think all 3 of these "new" baits are improvements as far as durabilty and cosmetics.
  18. I like 5/0 ofset worm hooks. I also like the Rage tails
  19. Otay and hodges have no shinners. Hodges has threadfin shad. I am not sure if Otay does but it probably does. The main forage of those lakes would be other small fish. Buluegill, Redear, green sunfish, crappie baby carp baby bass etc. Along with crawdads. Bizz I dont think any lakes would have dieoffs because of no trout but some might have a lower top end weight. Or at least fewer monsters
  20. A ton of baits are made in China. Most fishing gear is made there. Baits, rods reels, line, etc. It doesnt have to say "Made in China" on it. That is just to get it through customs. If your products are packaged later in the USA then they dont say China on them. Some companies will order unpainted baits and paint them here and then package them.
  21. Chinese baits are not bad because they are made in China. They are usualy bad because they are bought or producded for companies over here in the states who have little idea how to properly design and test baits. Most of the baits produced in China are knock offs of baits made here. Joe blow will take a bait that is hot and send it to China to be copied. The Chinese do a good job copying but without properly understanding the dynamics of the bait, They almost always fall short. Joe blow doesnt understand the dynamics either(if he did he could design his own bait) so he is happy with "his" product becuase it looks close enough and the unknowing public is buying them because they are trying to save a buck. In the end the customer looses becuase the bait does not perform like the original. Now the bait in question? Why does it suck compared to a real Hudd? Wellllllll first like I said its WAY too heavy. Second the colors are not natural. Third the plastic is to hard so the bait doesnt swim as good. The eyes dont look as good. The detail is not as good but its close. It boils down to this. You could buy 3 or 4 of these baits and get a bait that has very few aplications were it could actulay catch fish and chances are you would NEVER get bit OR you could buy 1 Hudd and get a bait that is balanced properly, has a nice natural action, realistic eyes, and is a proven fish catcher. In the end the original is a MUCH better value.
  22. That mold was the original bass harraser by reaction stike. They had those baits at Icast a few years ago. Ken Chaumant from Stanley jigs saw the bait and told them they were violating his patent. so Reaction strike changed the tail to thier current bait. The factories in China retain ownership of the molds even though the customers designed them. Sooo that particular mold is still in the same factory in China and now the factory has found a new customer to sell those baits. The bait itself was never weighted properly. It is extremley heavy for its size. It sinks WAY to fast and would likely get snagged very easily. I feel that even at a very low price the bait is a bad buy. However if you literaly wanted a bait to fish at 50+ ft then this bait could be usefull. I dont like the colors but I am not sure how much color maters at that depth. SOOOOOO ther is the history of the bait and basicaly the long version of what Fourbizz said
  23. Jay go hunting! I would rather hunt then fish. But thats becuase the season is short and I only kill one deer. Then there is also saltwater. You gotta mix it up. I had the best year ever bass fishing and it spoiled me. I too have not been motivated to fish for bass since around mayish. I am starting to get the itch a little but I also want to play in the salt. I am kinda like Fish Chris as he likes to target many different species and always try for the biggest of each. Go play with some other fish for a little while and you will want bass again. I do know how you feel about the trout stocking. Our state sucks!! its run by a bunch of tree huggers.
  24. You aint kidding! I wish the market would bounce back. Thanks for all the kind words guys. These baits are a pain to make. They just take forever comparred to soft baits. I will be at the Bass a thon so I hope to meet some of you guys. Come by and say hi!
  25. You can "get by" with a hvy flipping stick with smaller swimbaits but the true gill is a medium sized bait. If your looking for an inexpencive rod, look at the Okuma swimbait rods. get a hvy. It will handle the bait fine. 20lb test MINIMUM. 25 is a better choice. I have heard mostly good things about the true gill it should get bit but like Fourbizz said the paint is known to chip. shouldnt effect you getting bit though. soo basicaly I just agreed with everything FourBizz said
