  1. Tonight was on of my proudest nights ever, and will probably make me the laughing stock of all my friends. My son is four years old and he has already caught the "bug", and believe me he has it bad. I'm a traveling sales rep and my hour are anything but consistent so I am not usually the one that gets to pick him up in the evenings, but the days I do as soon as I walk in its "daddy are going fishing" if she picks him up its "is daddy gonna take me fishing tonight". Well the nights I get to take him fishing I will usually stop by Walmart and let him pick out a new lure (or two if I'm sure she wont find out teach him bout the monkey early). This afternoon he walked down the isle looking all around and finally walked over to a 1/4 oz black and blue jig. I cringed. (I'm still not healed up from the Rapala a few weeks ago). Tonight was a special occasion because Momma also came along. (one more pole to untangle). We hit the lake about 2 hours before sundown since the trips always need to be short with him. I tied his new jig to his line after I pried it out of his hand. Its so funny he will not let the cashier even put his baits in the bag he has to hold his new prized lure. I put a pork trailer on it and told him to cast and retrieve slow. Why not teach him right. I have been working to increase the range of baits I throw so I spent tonight working with a couple new cranks, a new top water, and a flipping tube. Well we had been fishing all evening and it was getting close to dark. I said a few more casts and we are going.......... Splash Splash I look up my sons little noodle rod is doubled over. He drops his rod and runs to the back of the boat with his mommy. I reach down pick up his rod and reel is his keeper bass. I unhook it and he wont come near the fish so I throw it back. (wish I could have got a picture, but he was terrified) Well you know that a few more casts goes from a few to a bunch more when you are being out fished by a 4 year old. I keep looking back at momma and she is grinning ear to ear. She sees that I am working hard to try to at least catch one fish. Well it gets dark and I take us back to the launch and trailer the boat. We get ready to leave and I tell Logan I'm proud of him and that I love him lots. We arent a mile down the road and I hear "boy I cant wait to tell everyone you got out fished by a four year old" That finalizes it momma is banned from the boat.
  2. Jig Man in picture one are you just bending your weed guard so it slips up in the tubes at the same time as the jig head??
  3. I absolutely feel your pain. I can not have enough rods set up. I am always wanting to keep up with the VanDams. The funny part is I will try something and if it doesnt produce fish for me immediately I tend to disregard it. I always seem to end up with a tube, tiki stik, spinner bait, jig, back on my line. I think you forgo to list Swimbait it all the rage.
  4. I fish a lot of Tube Jigs. I prefer to fish the jig with a open hood jig head i feel I get a better hood set. Plus I prefer a 3.5" tube (Schuberts) and i find the wider gapped hooks seem to be longer than the body of the tube which hurts T-rigging hookset. Does anyone know of a system to make an open jig head weedless in a tube? Thanks!!
  5. I also have been wondering about swimbaits. Has anyone every used the Black Dog Shell Cracker. I think it looks great and I know that alot of the fish I catch feed on our high Blue Gill population. Does someone have a better blue gill swimbait idea. I am plannin on buying a couple of Mattlures hopefully next month. (been rebuilding the momma dont know fund).
  6. I have no problem sharing my tackle. I someone is out with me and I find something that is working I will share, but I do expect the same like wise. Everything on my boat is typically fair game. However I really dont like sharing my rods. I have some older equipment that is still in good shape that I break out if I know I will be fishing with someonw that doesnt have much equipment.
  7. Thanks guys that sounds like it will work well. Five minutes is about how long it takes to undo an over flow knot anyhow. Thanks!!
  8. The question I'd like answered is how does this line behave compared to other lines which you've used on these same spinning reels? I seem to have problems with all line with twist on my spinning reels. I dont know if I am doing something wrong. I had a guy I know (probably the best fisherman I know) tell me to always close the bail manually because if you do it with the crank you put a half twist in the line every time you close the bail. I think that the line I have had the least twist problems with has been regular old stren. However Stren is not strong enough for me. I love the yo-zuri for strength. I use to use P-line and I loved it but it seems like in the last two years I cannot get a spool of P-line that doesnt break in odd places when I set the hook. I believed in alone for at least 2 seasons. Any line suggestion or any other ideas for keeping twist to a minimal would help. Thanks for everyone input.
  9. High Point I'm a furniture rep out of IN. I have always thought about staying a few day after maket and doing some fishing. Where do you fish there??
  10. When my problem gets really bad I have a eyelet out in front of the house with a ball bearing swivel on it I attach the end of my line to in and take a hike. I then retrieve the line. This for several hours. I get my worst twists when using a tube. Thank you!
  11. Any particular color that anyone would recommend.? I am going to buy shad colors and I believe baby Bass. I have done really well in past summers on the Baby 1- in Alabama Shad buty it has not produced for me as well this season.
  12. This year I started using Yo-Zuri Hybrid. I love it on my baitcasting reels. I also love it on my spinning reels until it starts to get twists in the line. I am having problems with twists causing line to knot when I cast. I have found that the problem is much better if I take some line off the spool but this hurts both casting distance and how well the drag works. Does anyone have any advice to help prevent or at least minimize my problem? Thank You!!
  13. MONEY IS THE ISSUE FOR ME.i HAVE TAKEN TO FIND OUT WHAT WORKS,AS TO WHAT I CAN AFFORD. THE THREE CRANKS I MENTIONED ARE AFFORDABLE TO ME SO THAT IS WHAT I USE. I HAVE NO HANDS EXPERIENCE WITH THE HIGH END STUFF SO I HAVE NO OPINION ON THEM 8-) Thank you for your help. I understand and believe me money is a concern as well for me. All I am trying to do is get an idea if there is truly a difference justifying the monetary difference. I hope I didnt upset anyone. That definately was not my intent. Thanks again for everyones help.
  14. If money were not an issue (and of course it is) would you buy Lucky Craft? Do you feel they produce more fish? Also, does anyone have any experience with Jackall?? I have seen some very good looking bait from that particular company!! Thank you for all your help!!
  15. Schuberts KV147 (Tube) Wave Worm Tiki Stick (Black/Blue Junebug Chart. Tip) Jig/Plastic Trailer (Booyah Boo Bug PBJ Grn Pumpkin Trailer) Spinner Bait Tube (Misc)
  16. I want to work on crank fishing. I tend to fish with soft plastic and jigs a mojority of the time but I want to broaden my tactics. Does anyone have any suggetions of a few cranks that produce for them? I fish several different kinds of lakes, reservior, and rivers). Thanks in advance for any and all help!!
  17. We fished a night tournament last weekend we caught fish on 1/2oz black spinner baits with a colorado blade as big as we could find. I also used a Zoom black viberating chunk as a trailer. We caught some fish including a 3 1/2# not terrible for IN. The fish came out of 3-5 ft deep water. Hope it helps.
  18. I am look for individuals interested in starting a new central IN club for next year. I'm located in Kokomo area.
