  1. I might be down to get out on Sunday. Saturday is supposed to rain in the AM.
  2. I'm in. No boat, Can fish AM's and anytime Sun/Mon. Also willing to take off work to be part of this huge event in * history!
  3. What is LOLZORS? And not to steal your thunder NEW but I'm pretty sure credit would go to either myself or 420 for mentioning the idea first :-/ It's cool tho, we'll still let you referee! ;D
  4. I say we make it a fish-off. We can place bets, make a real event outta this. My money is on shimmy. No offence Little, just not big on little baits either. Not to say my bag-weight hasn't suffered bcuz, but my confidence is still in tact so at least I THINK i can catch fish.
  5. I am looking to go fishing Monday if anyone has room on a boat or knows a good shore spot this time of the year. If anyone is up for it, PM me. Mantis, sent you a PM already. -JVM
  6. Glad to hear that the bite seems pretty consistently ON for a while at least. I'll be in Tx this weekend and prob wont even have time to fish Such injustice! An hour or so from Lake Fork and 15-30min from several great fisheries. Well I hope I can get in a morning or evening at the least???
  7. I struck out with a chick there the other day! Turns out she's not much into voyeurism Coulda been me. Skinny guy, halfro, butt naked???
  8. Just realize the ponds wont necessarilly spawn around the same time as the lake.
  9. I am planning on hitting the Rez again Sunday afternoon/evening. If anyone wants to come along shoot me a pm.
  10. Hellz Yeah! WWGmfBD? Good luck on Anna. Watcha gonna throw first?
  11. Thanks they were lots of fun to catch. Casting into rough winds, boat goin all over the place and then SMASH!!! Seems like they are getting the fall aggression back on.
  12. Well I finally did get out there. Had decent luck. Caught two but good size. Pics and more details posted here... http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1255055485/0
  13. Hittin the Rez again Sunday afternoon, 8/11. Anyone want to come along, shoot me a PM. So I finally made it back out to the Rez... Only spent 3hrs on water and with the wind the way it was and a hand controlled troller I might have actually "fished" 1/2 the time. Anyway, long story short, was able to put together a patern fairly quickly and boated 2 decent fish. First was a healthy 18.5 inches second was a lil' over 15in. All in all about 5-6lbs of fish I figure. Pics are below.
  14. Thinking about hittin the rez tomorrow early AM, renting a boat and catchn some fish. Havent been out in over a month, would love an update. Specifically water temps. I am wondering if the temps ave changed enough to signal the fish to move for their fall transition. Uplake and down? Any other info is also appreciated. PM if you want to keep it discreet and no i dont fish the tourneys out there so no competition from me. Also, probably fish from about 6 to 10am. If anyone wants to tag along, shoot me a PM. Renting the boat so can't handle more than 1 body. -Josh
  15. I always liked the run of the mill nightcrawlers with eagle claw barbed bait hooks. Not sure what size. Grab my Snoopy-pole, a can of worms and box of hooks and bobbers and get rdy to do some pro-style bassin! ...j/k. Good question tho...?????
  16. On a new note, thinking bout going out tomorrow and maybe monday. Was thinking about hitting either Hunting Run or the Rez. Anyone know how the fishing has been out on either of those lately?
  17. Good info. i did not know that. bet they are makin a ton of money. i drive by them everyday at work and see guys fishing. I dont think I have seen signs up but then again, never went there to fish so would know. The ffax ponds I know of aren't though, with the exception of one, which i dont fish either.
  18. If u want good shore fishing, there are a couple of Fairfax area ponds that are good. Ashburn has some too I hear??? I never fish them but PM me and I will tell you what I know, which isn't a whole lot. Also, Fountainhead, the Occ rez in general, and Bull Run marina offer some good shore spots. Now that weather is cooling you could probably do ok fishing from the shore @ fountainhead. Lots of wood. There are trails all over that will take you into the coves too if you get tired of the main channel near the fountainhead boat landing. Occ Regional Park maybe too? That will put you closer to where the Occ river dumps into the Pota-mack.
  19. ...EXACTLY!!! Hey guys, I have an idea, let's not make it our sole intention to beat up other anglers. 1 - he didn't do anything wrong so far as I can see, lik dude said, under the gills, no harm, no foul right? 2 - If there is a problem weighing them that way or any other non-intentional offense, then politely offer help. I am not trying to be too PC and all but crappin on ppl for no good reason is pretty silly. Tight lines!
  20. TRE was on that one. The two of us went out Monday and caught 5 total with several misses a piece. I landed one 12+ inch. TRE had a couple 2-3lb fish and 2 smaller with all fish legal size. Also a blugeill Everything was on soft plastic, slow, either 8-plus ft of water or near some deeper water, tight to cover/structure. Good call TRE.
  21. Going out to the Rez for the first time in a month or two. Anyone have any insight or luck out there lately?
  22. Fountainhead can be fun and can produce nich fish and decent numbers. If you are looking to get off of the river, like 420 said Lake Anna would be great, You might also enjoy Hunting Run? http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/fishing/waterbodies/display.asp?id=193 Fountainhead can be tough thise time of year, especially if u dont have decent electronics and a knack for fishing deep. Sounds like you did alright at tridelphia though. I am 'sposed to be going out to Fountainhead on Monday. Let us know how you do and i"ll do likewise. Goodluck.
  23. Do you know how late you can keep a rental boat? I looked at the site and it doesn't say. The rain has stopped so I think we are going to go. May just fish from the shore as lightning is predicted. Crossing my fingers that I catch my first fish today Boats are usually due back in at 8:15 or 15min b4 dusk I believe, whichever comes first. 8:15pm for now. Ask each time u rent. Also, just bcuz u rent a battery, dont expect it to be fully charged, if at all U can rent in the rain, I have, I have also rented when lightning was predicted. Weatherman was right! Not advised Fish bite in the rain, bass bite in the rain, there are so many other factors to consider and also, there are always exceptions and little is exact about fishing. Fishing from shore i would suggest going left of the launch when looking out at the water. There are a lot of lay downs, altho not too many fish are still holding shallow I'd bet. If u follow the bank all the way down in that direction u reach a point and a cove, that area has deeper water, u just need to locate structure on the bottom or cover near bank. Carolina rigs and Senkos weightless or t-rigged are probably a safe bet fow and for a while till temps drop. Hope this helps.
  24. Its a 10hr or-so tourney, which is a long time to keep a fish, and the heat will wear them out too. Might be inadequate livewells, no aerator, etc in some cases, but most of those guys have serious jon-boats. Most of the fish were likely just exhausted, that'd be my guess. I've seen fish rest a while before dashing into oblivion. Most fish I have well'd for a long time, with a crowded well, that is how they act for a while, till rested up and then they're off???
  25. I'm hoping to fish Aqui on Monday, for the first time. Does anyone have any tips on what to throw right now??
