  1. I have lost a few and replaced them, loosing an occasional lure is part of fishing. The bottom line is the chatterbaits do catch fish in the right conditions.
  2. Keep your rod tip down once you set the hook and keep your line tight to lessen the chance of the bass jumping and throwing the bait.
  3. The lakers are going down tonight. Paul Peirce will be named the MVP of the series. Go Celtics!!!!
  4. I personally would not take a boat on a river unless it had a gasoline motor. Good luck with the new boat though, it looks like you have a nice setup.
  5. What a great moment, congrats to your son.
  6. You may aslo want to try the chatterfrogs, I have been catching a lot of bass on them lately.

I use swim senkos, usually weightless. I twitch them twice to get the tail action, reel in the slack, let it sink for a few seconds and then repeat until I have reeled in the bait.
  8. Call back and escalate the call. I had the same thing happen and I ended up getting a double order (two of every lure I ordered)and only got charged for one set and I didn't get charged for shipping. When I ordered the second time I put a comment about poor service in the comments field and that order showed up on time.
  9. I went to Gander Mountain once and was less than impressed with their selection.
  10. Germantwon was fun Saturday because I got to fish with the best fishing partner I could hope for. We got on some fish, no hawgs but I had a great time anyways.
  11. Nice Hawg
  12. Congrats and nice post
  13. I don't know what I will decide to do when I finally catch that trophy hawg. Part of me says keep it and mount it, another part of me says get a replica. I have seen mounts after 30 years that still look good. One in particular was a record Rainbow Trout my grandfather caught and had mounted. I will not tell someone what to do with their trophy fish as that is their personal decision.

This is dependent on the conditions and the time of day. I throw different baits for different conditions and times of day.
  15. I have a 16 foot boat with a 30lb thrust motor and it works fine. If I want to move quickly I max the motor out (turn it to 5) and it moves quickly. I do have the most powerfull Diehard deep cycle battery made.
  16. Thanks, my son and I went out fishing all day yesterday for fathers day and had a great time. Today I am going to a wine festival with the wife and some friends. My son is spending today with his wife's family. Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there.
  17. to the forum. Try throwing some senkos, they always produce for me. The swim senkos work good with a bullet screw-in weight.
  18. to the forum. All I can say is read as much as possible and if you can watch some fishing shows that is a bonus.
  19. You still don't get it. The owner may want it back and he has the right to take it back. You are powerless in your position. Do the right thing, stop working on the boat and contact the true owner about the fact that you have his boat. Maybe if you are lucky he will work something out with you but I wouldn't count on it. What makes you think the guy is just going to give you a free boat after he finds out what you have done? How do you know he is not reading this forum and trying to track you down right now. Man I would not want to be in your shoes if he calls the police and reports it stolen.
  20. I am not trying to give you a hard time. I am just trying to see how you are making out with this situation. You were the one that stated you are dealing with a stolen boat. Reply #16 - Jun 4th, 2008, 10:17pm i had no idea you had to be within spec of engine rating to get it registered? im going to have a huge prob registering it as the guy i got it from found it floating down the canal... so its as good as a stolen boat prety much. i need some help on registering it, i get a headache thinking about it, and now the motor has to be in spec too? i know for one thing florida is very cool about most laws, like for example we dont test for emissions and dont have limits on hp for our lakes and such so i think i wont have trouble with a big motor... the boat does have a vin and it was last registered in 99. maybe sooner but the sticker was 99.
  21. Nitro, thanks for the information on Germantown Lake. I have printed this out and will bring it with us. I am really hoping Jay can catch a hawg there tomorrow, that would make my day really special to see him get a new PB. He gets so excited and it is really cool to be a part of it.
  22. Make a rope lure. Take a piece of rope and unwind all of the strands on one end, then tie the other end to your line. Throw that out at the gar when you see them, they will most likely bite at it at least once and then they get their teeth stuck. When that happens they can't let go or get loose. If you want to fish lures, use a steel leader and try chatterbaits. Both if the one's I fought went after chatterbaits. I was lucky enough to boat one last year near the Fairfax Yacht Club in the Belmount Bay area. Lately there have been huge schools of them over there near the semi-submerged barge.
  23. Waht are you going to do if the guys says he wants his boat back and will not take no for an answer?
  24. Jay, I will go on your prefishing trip, let me know where and when. I can't do the Thursday day thing, we have report cards to get out the door next week.
