  1. I just bought a Garmin (color) and I am happy with it. It also did not break the bank as far as cost. I only say that because I do have a fishing budget.
  2. Did you manage to get the boat registered yet?
  3. I still say Celtics in 6, they win the championship Tuesday night. There is no way the Lakers are going to win three straight games against the Celtics. The Celtrics were 4-0 against them during the season. They are now 7-1 against them when you include the playoffs. Stick a fork in the Lakers, they're done!!! Go Celtics
  4. What do you mean you found them? Were these taken from someones property without that person knowing? I am little concerned that you may not be obtaining these things legally.
  5. I don't think there is any specific go to guy although others may feel differently. I think all of the NOVA folks can offer some unique knowledge about locations and baits. Like ado124 stated googlemaps should be one of your best friends. I personally have found some sweet spots to fish using googlemaps.
  6. Jason, This is the weekend you get a new PB. We are going to catch some hawgs at Germantown Lake. I have not had a banner year this year either, only a few over three pounds and then my PB. All of these were caught using bigger baits and a lot of patience waiting for the strikes from just the bigger bass.
  7. Glad to hear you had a good time. I caught a nice size long-nosed gar last year, they fight like crazy. That was one of the best fights I have had fishing the river. I hooked into a nice size one last Saturday in Belmount Bay on a chatterfrog when I accidently ran it past a school of them. He cut my line when he went for the chatterfrog, I lost a good lure and ended up having to go get a replacement one that same night.
  8. Jason and I are going there Saturday for Fathers Day. We have only fished it one other time right after a cold front in early April. It was really cold with high winds and stained water. However we did ok our last time but didn't catch any hawgs. We are hoping to catch a couple of hawgs this time.
  9. Sorry to hear, keep an eye on craigslist, ebay and pawnshops if you have any in the area. If you do have pawnshops in the area contact them and let them know to be on the look out for your stuff. They may help you catch the slimeballs that stole your stuff.
  10. This is a great place with a lot of great people. It was nice to see so many people offer to help out, I have never seen this kind of response in any other forum. It is just like having an extended family. Fishstick you are the man!!
  11. Has anyone fished Germantown Lake lately? Is the grass getting thick yet up beyond the boat docks? How are the water levels?
  12. Private lakes, you need to know someone
  13. I hear you, I have also learned a lot about bass fishing thanks to this site. Thank you to all of you that have helped me in the last year.
  14. I prefer weightless because of the grass and hydrilla.
  15. Glenn thanks for that info, I may have to investigate once my verizon plan expires.
  16. How about a picture of the whole fish next time.
  17. Jay you need to try some of the uncle josh pork trailers that I have.
  18. Yeah we usually can catch a nice limit fishing the Potomac and Occoquan. We can always find the bass when we fish together.
  19. Jay, I read your blog, good report.
  20. Congrats on the new boat.
  21. I have had about 10 of them on me this year from Lake Mercer and Lake Huntsman. Next time I get one I am trying the procedure below. I also spray myself with deep woods off really good now to the point of my clothes feeling wet and I spray my boots really well. I just found this in the Lyme disease thread in the everything else category. Helpful hint for the summer. Tick Removal Spring is here and the ticks will soon be showing their heads. Here is a good way to get them off you, your children, or your pets. Give it a try. Please forward to anyone with children... or hunters or dogs, or anyone who even steps outside in summer!! A School Nurse has written the info below -- good enough to share -- And it really works. This is great, because it works in those places where it's some times difficult to get to with tweezers: between toes, in the middle of a head full of dark hair, etc. Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds (15-20), the tick will come out on its own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away. This technique has worked every time I've used it (and that was frequently), and it's much less traumatic for the patient and easier for me. Unless someone is allergic to soap, I can't see that this would be damaging in any way. I even had my doctor's wife call me for advice because she had one stuck to her back and she couldn't reach it with tweezers. She used this method and immediately called me back to say, 'It worked!' Please pass on. Everyone needs this
