the hati quake
I didn't appreciate the enormity of this tragedy until I read some articles and saw some pictures. This is just a terrible situation with many thousands of good, innocent people dead or dying. I wish them the best.

Pellet guns and FPS
For the most enjoyment, in my opinion, get a rifle that is spring loaded, that shoots at 1000 fps. I've used them all - CO2 handguns & rifles, pump handguns and rifles, and the spring loaded rifles. The spring loaded ones sound kind of crappy, generally, but they're the most accurate and the most powerful. Also, you don't have to sit there pumping for 30 seconds for a shot. It's just one motion, insert pellet, close, sight, shoot. Fun stuff. I should get mine back out. It's been a while.

Best NFL game I've seen!
I got to thinkin' - anyone who might sympathize with me was probably scared by the title ;D

Best NFL game I've seen!
Yeah but how can you resist the interesting-sounding ones like "What a waste of money!"? Plus, if everyone waited for the threads to grow, none of them would grow.

Playmobil Security Check Point.
"I will never need to buy toothpaste again thanks to Playmobil. Not realizing this was a toy I purchased it to prepare for my interview as a TSA agent. Needless to say I aced it and have been happily viewing xrays of carry-on luggage and shoes ever since. As noted above, the free toothpaste is just icing on the cake - never expected a free lifetime supply, but who's complaining. This is a "must-have" for any aspiring TSA agent out there." I want the full body scanner upgrade, with the Barbie images.

Best NFL game I've seen!
I was just trying to say that I find football/baseball/basketball (and yes, thank you, I forgot - hockey ;-) ) to be, well, lame. I'm not trying to say at all what should and should not be posted. I'm just saying, if you're gonna do a sports thread, don't put something in the subject line such as, "What a waste of money," or "I said it's..." because that means I'll probably click on it, which, in my opinion, is a waste of time. Women's beach volleyball is less of a sport and more just hot.

Nice job cleaning up the driveway!

Best NFL game I've seen!
Sorry to mislead you with the title guys, but I feel misled every time I click on a thread that doesn't make it clear that it's about sports, expecting something interesting instead of some kind of football/baseball/basketball thread. Any chance we can add a sports section, or at least be more explicit in the subject line? No offense, but I think football/baseball/basketball is stupid Now golf, tennis, fishing - that's what I'm talkin' about! This thread is kind of a joke, but also kind of serious... 8-)

Whats For Breakfast?
i do the exact same thing right down to the viva and broken yolks, EXCEPT i use the vietnamese rooster chili sauce instead of tabasco, MUCH better. imo of course. now that'll have you wiping your brow! It's a great breakfast, isn't it? That's awesome. Hmm, not sure I could handle that stuff. My girlfriend is a spice junkie though. Maybe I'll get some for her. She can "spice" me under the table any day ;D

Whats For Breakfast?
Two eggs fried with the yolks broken, on top of a piece of American cheese, on top of a lightly toasted piece of multi-grain bread. Light sprinkle of salt, cover with Tabasco. Eat with a fork & knife, making sure to put each bite in your mouth with the Tabasco side down. Wash it and my daily multivitamin down with a tall glass of Tropicana orange juice, lots of pulp. Wipe my sweaty brow with a Viva paper towel. Delicious.

The hardest part about bass fishing is.........
The hardest part for me is consistently hooking up with bigger fish. Further, it's difficult for me to continue trying to catch bigger fish when I'm not having luck, instead of going to guaranteed dink spots to get my fix. This is all assuming you're on the water. Overall, the toughest part is getting everything else taken care of so you can spend a good bit of time on the water.

Pretty rad
Dubai is circling the drain. Talk about over-leveraged. Reminds me a lot of, well, here. Reminds me of that commercial..."I'm a member at the local golf club, have a brand new house, lawnmower, a couple cars, etc. How did I do it? I'm in debt up to my eyeballs!"

AVATAR the movie
I loved it. Like RW said, the "message", so to speak, is just background noise. Anyone who applies the message to any current events does so at his own folly. Regardless of political affiliation, the corporation and army in the movie was obviously bad, and the natives good. There was no gray area. In real life, it's almost all gray area. The visual effects were unbelievable, and some of the scenery gave me goose bumps. I agree - 3-D is the only way to go. Oh, and -nick-: try $30 in CT for two of us! The price was almost as unbelievable as the scenery ;D

Nissan Customer Service
Businesses are out to make money, obviously. They wouldn't simply double the warrantee out of the goodness of their hearts. I doubt they'd be facing a class action law suit as the warrantee is in print, signed by dealership/customer. However, obviously it's in their best interests to keep their customers happy, and to get good publicity both in the news and from happy customers such as myself spreading the word. Plus, they're promoting their transmission and trying to dispel any rumors that it's not worth purchasing one due to the cost of ownership being too high. It's a win-win situation. I wouldn't go as far as to say what I think you're implying, which is that they deserve no credit for the move because they're simply trying to avoid a lawsuit.

I guess the technology isn't all that new then, if DaVinci sketched the first CVT design in 1490 ;D

Nissan Customer Service
Guys, I just wanted to let you know about a letter I received from Nissan last week. I bought a Nissan almost a year ago, and it have the so-called CVT, Continuously Variable Transmission, which basically means you don't feel the lags when you shift between gears. It works on some kind of a pulley system, and is, frankly, very cool. Anyway, apparently these transmissions are costly to repair once the warrantee period ends, and Nissan received some complaints about the cost of repair from customers. I typed a couple paragraphs from their letter: "First, to provide you with additional assurance regarding the overall cost of ownership we have doubled the warranty period for the transmission in your Rogue. The existing powertrain warranty coverage of 5 years/60,000 miles will be extended at no cost to you, for CVT repairs, replacements or related towing, to 10 years/120,000 miles, whichever comes first. This extension is effective immediately and requires no action on your part... Second, Nissan will reimburse customers who have previously paid to repair or replace their CVT, if the repairs would have been covered within the new extended warranty period. Even if you no longer own your Nissan we will reimburse you for past CVT reparis that would have been covered under this extension of the warrantee." And it goes on... I thought that was pretty cool of them.

New Camera, New Fish Pics
Powershot SD940? If so, that's what my gf got me for Christmas, and it's an amazing point-and-shoot camera, especially for its size. Love it. Takes hi-def videos too.

Operation Lop-down commences @ 09:00 New Year's Day
Best of luck to you. I have a couple suggestions based on personal experience. For quitting smoking, the patch helped me immensely. I didn't realize how well it was cutting the cravings until I forgot it one day and almost lost it at work. If you're having a really difficult time, consider the patch. Going through the three steps slowly wanes you off nicotine. I've quit in the past with Nicorette gum, but my nicotine addiction continued, and may have even worsened. I'm now 100% off nicotine, and although it's still tough sometimes, I feel great being free from that addiction. I don't even think about cigarettes half the time when I'm drinking. Also, make sure you realize that you'll probably have cravings the rest of your life. I have friends who quit 7, 8 years ago, and they still get cravings. It really sucks, but it's just a fact of life, unfortunately. You should realize and accept this fact so you're prepared. If you're serious about losing weight, I HIGHLY recommend counting calories. Buy a book (or use the internet) that has the caloric value of each food you eat (google it - there are many), and literally every time you put something in your body, mark it down. You should have a calorie target for each day, and try to stay close to that target. I'll tell you - counting calories is a HUGE eye opener. You wouldn't believe how "snacking" can have a huge negative effect on your diet, or how many calories some foods have. Lastly, if you're doing all this and still not losing weight, don't be discouraged. Quitting smoking, especially for long-time smokers, can have a drastic effect on your metabolism, meaning it becomes very difficult to lose weight. Your metabolism should recover within 6 months to a year after quitting, making dropping weight a lot easier, especially because you should be in much better shape by that point. I'm going on 3 months cig-free today (just over a month nicotine free), and my metabolism still hasn't recovered. I'm working my ace off just to maintain my weight :-( Best of luck to you, and PM me with any questions.

new years revolution
Just remember, if you try to take on too many things at once, the likelihood of failing at all of them is greater than if you focus on one or two things at a time. Good luck.

This should be interesting...
I've done both. In my opinion, smoking is more pleasurable and just very delicious. Chew (Redman) is delicious in a very different way. Both habits are gross to those who have never enjoyed them. Both habits will likely shorten your life. If you've never tried either, keep it that way. I don't think the phrase, "Ignorance is bliss," has ever applied better to anything.
