  1. I need to correct Long Mike on his fish weights. I had my scale set on pounds and ounces not hundredths. His fish weighed 7lbs. 10oz(Not 7.01) and the other weighed 5lbs and 8oz(Not 5.06). There you have it. Two very good fish and i just wanted to set the record straight for him.
  2. Learn to deal with it. If you let it get to you your done and a day is ruined. Long Mike and i had boats so close to us this weekend on fork we were talking to them and still catching fish. They were to. they all(We) knew we weren't supposed to be that close together, but noone said a word. It was just understood that there were going to be boats all over each other and noone let it get to them. We actually met some nice guys and women while we were within a cast of each other. I have never let it get to me and I have had some crazy things done to me while on the water. I just refuse to let it ruin my day. Two cast lenghts if i have to set a distance. FYI, a school of fish came up forty yards from the boat while we were all fishing and talking, I hit the TM, and went out there to try to pick an under out of the school. Another boat from Louisiana did the same. Did I get upset, heck no I just droped a trap in the middle of them and caught a bass weighing 6 lbs 14 oz. We shared information(I told the other boats we were fishing against what i caught it on down to the size and color) with every boat that we talked to and they did the same. Ya'll just need to relax and go fish.
  3. Ken, I didn't fall out of the boat, but Jack did. He landed on his back and hit a submerged stump with a glancing blow. He's a little sore, but none the worse for wear. He's also a little sore at me because of my inept use of the net. He lost a big one at the side of the boat because of me. :-[ Wrong, it was the lack of attention to that hook on that buzzbait. I knew the night before when I tried to hone it I should have changed it out.
  4. It could be the location. Could be how it was mounted and what was use to mount it. If it has air in the material that was used to mount it that could also be a problem.
  5. You sir, have not been upriver on Falcon. They can be on you before you see them coming. Thick and narrow.
  6. I had to force him to take a picture of the 5lb 8oz fish he caught an hour later. Seems he got spoiled pretty quick. It would have beaten his old PB by a pound. He was still shaking from the first one. LOL. Mike post up the other pics. That pic just does not do it justice. The one on my camera is blurred from you shaking so bad. If they continue you might want to see a doctor. LOL.
  7. Family comes first. Make a ton of money, be happy, and you can fish the far away trips as you please. Good luck.
  8. Heck, they are allready doing this. Mexico city is the kidnap capital of the world. Phoenix, Arizona is a close second.
  9. Mike i am loaded and ready to go. Hitting the shower now. Meet me at Lake Fork Marina 1:30-2:00pm. Drive safe and I'll see you there. Let's roll, Jack
  10. Rates vary in this area from 75-125. I got lucky and have mine stored over at a buddy's shop. Cost me nothing.
  11. I'm left handed and fish a right handed reel. Don't like having to switch the rod from the right hand to the left. Learned to cast with the left years ago.
  12. Rarely, it's happened maybe a half of dozen times over the years. A three on the rear treble and a four on the front treble years ago fishing a rogue on Rayburn. Has not happened in quiet a few years though.
  13. I am very brand loyal. Only certain reels and rods will do. As far as lures go I have four or five brands that I stick with. It ain't broke yet so I see no need to go around purchasing other things that i may or may not like.
  14. Venting the prop allows the motor to turn up when coming out of the hole. It does not affect the mid range or top end. Is the prop in question already drilled? If so it is a matter of installing different numbers and sizes of plugs to set it. If it is not drilled I would contact a prop shop and let them drill it. They then can recommend how to adjust with the plugs. Personally I would not attempt to drill it. If it's not correct the prop will be useless. i have a couple of Trophys and a Lazer II (2) that I can measure and give those figures to you if you like. Just be sure, those venting holes have to be located in certain spots in reference to the blade location to work correctly. Good luck
  15. That's odd, every game warden I know in VA carries an M4 in their vehicle. And all they have to worry about is meth labs and pot farms. Sidearm and a shotgun down here. At least is was until last weekend. A few carry a little more but it was not the norm.
  16. Word is even the game wardens were armed with AR-15 rifles over the holiday weekend. That's a big break from the normal weapons they usually carry. I'm betting there is a lot more going on down there than we will ever know. Texas Association of Bass Clubs State Championship tournament is schelduled for the last weekend of September down there. I got a call this morning and we are having a meeting June 15th to discuss possibly changing the site. I hope we don't, but if there is any chance that one of our qualifying anglers could get harmed it just would not be worth it.
  17. Heck yes I consider both to be pros. There is a lot more than catching fish to it; however, both have won untold dollars fishing the circuits in this area. They fish, work, and represent in a way that would be a credit to any company out there. Both have families and their lifestyles are unquestioned. I wish the best for them and hope they make it one day. I guarantee most of you would recognize their names, but without their approval I would never post it here.
  18. Fish that always swim just as aquatic mammals ( like dolphins ) "sleep" , half of their brain shuts down to rest while the other half remains active. Very interesting. Raul, care to add some more detailed info for us?
  19. Front page article in the Houston Chronicle this morning. The Zeta Drug Cartel hatched a plot to blow the dam last month. They went as far as to distribute fliers down lake below the dam on the Mexican side warning the Mexican people to leave the areas below the dam. Four million people live on each side of the river below the dam. Falcon Lake Dam is five miles long and they said it would have taken a tractor trailer load of explosives to do the job. Hundreds of law enforcement were dispatched to the dam area going as far as hiding in the bushes around the dam to stop any action. This just sucks. What kind of people would want to kill hundreds or thousands of innocent people just to make a point. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/metropolitan/7033818.html
  20. nice Catt. txfisherman I had the injections in my back a week ago today. Gonna find out if they worked. Should know by mid morning Saturday.
  21. Yes, just hit the WPT button twice and the location is saved on the unit. You will have the option to name it if you like. When you want to return you have the option to punch in the coordinates and it will give you a trail back to the site.
  22. Your just jealous. LOL.
  23. Well lets see: An elite angler borrows 80,000.00 to fish for a year. Entry fees and expenses amount to 70,000.00. Interest on loan 6.50% (Maybe, but his credit score will suck after year one)so that is around 5,208.00 give or take. If he is lucky he might win 30,000.00. With the 30,000.00 he repays his loan with interest and that amounts to about 13,500.00 interest and principle. This leaves 17,500.00. He has a boat deal and the new boat is ready. He gets a new boat each year, but he cannot fish it until he sells the other. Notes due on older boat so he makes another loan to pay off the boat. 35,000.00. Sells older boat for 33,000.000. Puts 180,000 miles on new truck the first year, it breaks, he pays off(10,000.00) and makes a loan for another new truck and stacks the amount he is upside down into the second note. He now has 55,000.00 note on a 40,000.00 truck. He has yet to pay any personal expenses for his household. With this scenario over half of the elite field would not be considered pros as they did not derive 50% of their income from fishing. They are living (If you want to call it that) off of loans. I know this sounds silly, but I can name several guys that went for it the first year(On borrowed money) and lost their rear ends. They never won a dime. Not all do it this way. I also know two great fishermen that qualified for the elites this year, but chose to not fish as they could not put together enough sponsor dollars to make it work.
