Do bass Spawn earlier from warm weather?
Moon Water temps Water clarity Lake levels Biological clocks Length of daylight hours (The days are getting longer) All affect the spawning cycle If you wait for the majic temp of 62* you often will miss a lot of the larger fish. Not uncommon for the really large fish in this area to come and go before a lot of fishermen even realize that it has happened. I have seen many on the bed in water temps in the 55-58 degree range. With our weather and water temps this year though, the early fish are going to run a little later. We have had water temps on Rayburn in the high 30s just a week ago. It has climbed back into the mid to high 40s in a lot of areas and with air temps in the 70s for this week the fish are going to start the move up shortly. The weather will cause them to come and go, but it will be a while before there is a major move to the shallows unless we have an extended run of warm weather. Jack

SHIMANO REELS
I don't know, but we have a lot of new members looking for recommendations on "The Best" reels at certain pricing points. My suggestions are for those that are interested. I'm not sponsored and I don't really care what anyone fishes. -Kent 8-) Kent, I'm still kicking myself for selling you that E7.

Sponsor question
EVERY dealership in this area sells more than one line of boats. Several have as many as 5-6 different lines

Lowrance LSS-1
Heck dick, just buy the 10 and sell me your 8. You don't need the 8 up front, way to big...LOL.

site sluggish?
Mine is faster than me...That's good enough. Could be worse...I could be living with dial up.

Lakemaster vs Navionics
Although Navionics is the industry leader, they are very poor when it comes to the areas in the upper end of the lakes and back end of the bays. It is just blank. FHSP does a better job in these areas. Depending on what area of the lake I am fishing I will install either. I cannot speak about the coverage in the East, Southeast, or the West. I fish the south chip (2008). The coverage may be better in these areas or with the later versions of the chips. I have just purchased a 2010 Navionics South chip, but have not had it on the water. I run these chips in a LMS480M and a LGC522c/IGPS Main lake: Navionics Creeks: FHSP Bays: FHSP

Sponsor question
Unless Ranger,Genmar, or who ever owns them now owns the dealership they have no say in the matter. Look at the auto dealers that sell multiple lines of autos. The guy is just trying to offer a selection for his customers. Right now the Ranger flag might not be worth flying.

Lake Fork Trip???
You might want to purchase Lance Vick's chip for your Lowrance unit. It is loaded with the boat lane routes as well as a lot of fishing spots. I saw they were on sale a couple of weeks ago for $24.95.

Lowrance LSS-1
I think enough that I paid over $400.00 for one a guy decided not to use and I don't even have a HDS unit to install it in yet. Sending you a pm Catt.

Lake Fork Trip???
I hold my breath each time I get out on the lake. The stumps just don't rot. If you come from the landing in Williams creek be sure to idle across the first point if you turn to go north into Little Mustang. There is a widowmaker out in 15-18' just out of the boat lane and about 20-25 yards off the southeast end of the point. It's unmarked and 3-5" under water. The top has been sawed off flat (For some strange reason)and it is a good 15-18" across the top. Ask Long Mike what I think of the lake... Jack I need to add that I have never damaged my boat on the lake. Just plain lucky I guess. I do; however, idle a lot.

on board battery chargers
Mine stays on 24/7. I just clean the terminals and check the battery water levels monthly. Be sure to use distilled water, not tap water when you refill.

Engine Damage due to Cold Water
A common practice in this area is to remove the center of the thermostats during the warmer months. Although it will make the engines pee like a race horse, I don't do it or recommend it. Checking or replacing the thermostats should become a standard procedure when servicing the motor. They can go bad just like the ones on an auto engine. Engine temperature can/will control the fuel mixture. It can and will cause it to lean, so keep those thermostats clean and up to date.

Engine Damage due to Cold Water
Kinda like the calm before the storm. Our old drag car engines would really pick up right before they came apart. Two things to do to keep everything together: Keep it serviced and tuned Warm those puppies up before you hammer down

Yep, as usual you are spot on. LOL.

Engine Damage due to Cold Water
115* is fine. you just don't want to run them before the thermostants open and allow the block to heat equally with the internal parts(Pistons). Take it from a guy who holds a few NHRA titles Thanks Catt, but that was a car not a boat.

where u bassers at?

Ever do anything really stupid while fishing?
Here's a few: Leaving the plug out Leaving the house without a spare tire Leaving my rods in the back of a truck at 5:30am Running 5 miles down the lake without the rods Boat key at home 3 hours away Culling the wrong fish Stading on the top of the bow while peeing (Sure you won't fall in). Leave tackle bags sitting on the porch Leave without life jackets Leave electronics on shelve in garage (200 miles from the lake). Kick the TM to the right while on high, hit stump, walk right out of the boat. Air temp was 19* Many more, but I'll quit there.
