bank fishing sucks!!
Agree 100% I can't even get a flipping bite in shallow ponds going...so whats up with that.Totally screwed up this year. > I am just holding on to the hope that all hell will break loose once this unusually cold water warms up.

Just insane!!!!
Theres 5 billion colors of rattle traps(lipless cranks) out there and every one has the potential to catch fish and you really only need a small handful of your favorites to fish your waters sucessfully.I think anyone who goes out of their way or to great lengths to aquire a bait like that one is going to be sorely dissapointed(again) that they can't catch fish any better than they did before if in fact they ever do in the first place.

Carolina short cut rigs
Yup,what he said. All it does is save you from having to slide a sinker and bead on your line which takes a whole of 2 seconds to accomplish. It also deadens your feel of the bottom and in my experience gets snagged worse,at least in shell rock that I fish. Also it is my belief(and some may argue) that the fish can feel that weight as well when they pick up your bait. They have to move that weight before you feel the strike whereas a free sliding weight gives you direct line contact with you bait. I took all mine and clipped the wires and used the hardware the right way.

Culprit Topwater Shad
You could start with one of these... It's slotted for the hook and everything. ;D You know...it would be really fun to see who could catch a keeper sized bass on the silliest thing. I once won a bet by catching a bass -albeit a little one -on a bare hook. I used a #1 bait hook and burned it. Yes,but isn't it funny how they will hit anything but at the same time nothing at all? :-?

Deep Water Fishing
All good advice so far but let me stress the importance of the c-rig. If you want to learn that body of water then you need to throw the c-rig to death. You can pick a sweet spot apart with a jig or t-rig but the c-rig covers much more water and is better at initially locating fish.It can allow you to locate the hard bottom areas and the sweet spots, nooks and crannies etc that the fish prefer.Top 2 baits for that situation would be a senko bait or a paca craw on the c-rig. Also crank it to death at different depths and use the lipless with a yo yo retrieve crashing it into the dropoffs and letting it fall off the edges as well into deeper water. The more active fish will generaly be on top of the ledges in 6-8 ft of water and the inactive ones will be suspended off the structure over deeper water. Just to let you know it has been my experience that the fish in those kind of pits can get really picky at times of which direction your casting and retrieving, especially when the wind is blowing. Yeah everyone says work uphill but you really got to try both ways until you figure out how they want it.I've seen too many times that dropping the bait off into deeper water is the ticket. After you catch some then keep doing the same thing on all similar spots, same direction. Find a good spot and work around in a circle. Once you learn the body of water more you will be able to more easily go out and find the right spots after fishing it under a variety of conditions. Yes these fish do tend to cruise a lot so don't abandon one area totally. If you get the chance while your out then re-visit it a couple more times during the day.The bass may be following bait or waiting in the depths until schools of bait come into the area and then move up and stage on the structure for ambush.

Culprit Topwater Shad
Thats about it, you may get one cuz of the commotion in the slop but you actually have to be able to make it walk, that which it is incapable of, or any action of any kind for that matter. This was one of those I threw for about 5 minutes and could already tell that the joke was on me. I got 3 for sale if anyone is interested

Spinnerbaits with painted blades

Fishing the LARGER(SOFT) stickbaits
For the big soft sticks(7 inches) you will need at least 1 6/0 wide gap hook while I prefer a 7/0 monster or a gamakatsu g-mag. Just fish it as you would any other senko style bait. I prefer to rear weight mine with a nail and use it like a jerkbait or also crawl it on the bottom, wind one or two times slowly, just enough to make it lift off the bottom, pause and repeat. Wacky rigged on a weighted wacky hook. The falcon lures k-wacky hook fits the bill rather well.A 7 ft MH rod is prefered as this is a heavy thick bait. I also like to use the large ones at night a lot of times. This is a bold in your face bait. You won't get near as many strikes with it but they will normally be pigs. It takes a little confidence to stick with it like any larger bait if your not accustomed to throwing them. In my neck of the woods spring is senko time and so this is best time to throw the cuban cigar at em.

Culprit Topwater Shad
I was going to post a picture of a big fat turd, but I guess I"ll keep it appropriate. I also listed this on the recent thread about "worst lure ever bought".

sleeper baits
Totally agree! 4 inch size, 1/4 oz.jig head and add jig spinner like a beetle spin and have yourself a good time. This year this has also been our hottest crappie bait using the 2 or 3 inch with a straight jighead 1/16-1/8 oz or jig and spinner combo, and on the back of a roadrunner. I also use the 4 inch ones extensively on the back of chatterbaits, scroungers, and dropshotting, and splitshot rigs.

New Lure Idea - A Banjo Senko.
I did a search and nothing came up.Pardon me if this has been discussed before.Anyone have experience with these? Please let me know. I only have 50.00 to spend and the monkey wants me to pick up a few packs.I am not sure if they are worth the money How do you rig this thing? Whats the best way to work it? What conditions do you throw it in? What are your favorite colors? What is this bait supposed to mimmick? Thanks in advance. J

Cold Weather In Florida
x2 to all... I don't own any thermal undergarments so I wear pajamas under my jeans. ;D I am tired of fishing with two coats on,2 pairs of socks, numbfingers, and icy ears. I go out in the morning and scrape my car with a spatula.Need to have my sister in Ohio send me an ice scraper, never thought I'd see the day.

Worst Lure ever bought?
Just thought of another one: The snagproof weed demon. Soft body weedless spook type wannabe bait.It is a complete turd. Thought it'd be great for slop fishing especially since I am a dog walking fan,uhh huh yeah right. :

In your opinion is the rico worth it?
Color won't matter too much. Its more about the color of the belly. Nomally you want something white,dark/black,chrome,or maybe something clear/translucent depending on what kind of water clarity you have and the present light conditions. As an all around color white or bone is the best place to start IMO.

Worst Lure ever bought?
Amen bro. I fished that thing in a variety of places and under multiple conditions and a multitude of retrieves it's just a joke. :

In your opinion is the rico worth it?
Yep it isn't just a fancy name or paintjob your paying for.It truly does have properties that make it stand out as better from other brands.
-
Double Fluke Rig
I don't think it would matter what size you use but I would prefer to use the smallest size possible due to visibilty to the fish. The smallest ones are still rated at at least 30+lbs.

A color or pattern on a bait that you CANNOT stand
Whats strange is parrot(yellow-chart/blue back) kicks some serious tail around here especially in dirty water and cloudy days. How much different could firetiger be?It's still bright and obnoxious looking. :-/
-
In your opinion is the rico worth it?
The zell pop is a great lure as are the rebels. They flat out catch fish but,...the rico is in a class by itself.Yes it IS too expensive for what it is but in my opinion it is worth it. Once you hear the sound it makes the first time you'll know why. It sounds dead on like shad poppin on the water plus it walks better/easier and spits water further than most others. I know I paid a little too much for mine but am happy with my purchases.

florida bassin
Nice toads dude, way to go. Thanks for posting. A lot of fish on beds around here. These fronts keep knocking them back and I think a lot of just had before they burst LOL.Most are in very heavy cover, more so then I seen last year.I've busted a lot of bucks but no big piggies yet.Again water clarity is an issue. I need no wind and a good sun to find em. Any larger fish that we've been catching have been in transition zones early AM.
