Open Bass Tourneys
It will depend on what opens you want to fish. If it is an open on TM only lakes or smaller lakes where you can get around I am sure there will be no problems. Two things you usually need for tournaments that come to mind is a functioning livewell to hold a good sized limit and insurance on your boat/liability. I think most tourney's require $100,000 coverage. I personally love when someone shows up to a tourney with a deep V and an ugly stick and takes home the money.

Is Ike a little over the top?
I did watch the final. He got river water in his mouth... could get sick from the bacteria I would spit it out too.

Is Ike a little over the top?
I think it is amazing. I think it is absolutely awesome how psyched he gets when he boats a fish. You can feel the passion he has for the sport. I personally love it...

What is your favorite fishing situation?
Pretty impressive, Missouri's state record smallmouth is 7lbs 2 oz I read the pamphlet and it said it was like 9 lbs. That can't be right. I've weighed these fish. http://mdc4.mdc.mo.gov/Documents/69.pdf

College Fishing
I fish with Penn State. This year I added a job so I couldn't fish the tournaments I needed to for points. Hopefully I can get in some of the FLW tourney's this summer as well as the Big Ten Championship.

#$#%$^%^&&%%%^^%$ college!!!!!!!!
Who cares if you graduate on time? Live your life while you can dude. You can't do this when you have a job. If you need to pay for a semester from loans pay for loans. You don't have an apartment do you? I could see if you had an apartment and you didn't want to be stuck in a year lease for a semester. Did you pay for credits in the summer already? If not then screw it. I am in the 5 year plan as are 50% of my friends.

Worm Bed
I have tried it.. I will admit to this at my own risk. It is a pain in the butt man good luck. The worms die, crawl out, freeze, and are a pain in the butt. I probably dumped around 3000 worms into my yard. I tried putting a light on top of the soil and it seemed to work well. The best situation in my opinion would be to follow a compost bin diagram and use red wigglers or European worms. Don't expect a ton of worms or fast results, but that would be my suggestion.

Whats a good rod for frogs, topwater?
I don't think I would use just one rod for each of those applications. I would think that you would need two completely different rods, but I could easily be wrong. The pro's will be with you shortly. ;D

In Your Opinion
I find it interesting that a bunch of you guys say you want to be left alone. I tend to have the same mentality when I go into a store and they try to sell me their home brand or an off brand that they have marked up to high heaven. For you guys who want to be left alone why? What aspect of a shop or workers would change the mentality of just wanting to be left alone? I personally love it when shops have the atmosphere where you can sit there and bs for a bit of time. If I am off topic I can make a thread.

Chronarch 51Mg
Just to curve the PM's about where I bought it. I found a mistype on ebay and bought it cheap.
-
Chronarch 51Mg
Good Point RW.. and it is well taken, but personally I feel my left or right hand is strong enough to bring in a bass. I don't catch em' like you do!
-
Chronarch 51Mg
Easy there old school! Here's a question for ya. If they had both right and left handed reels back when baitcasters began would you have went with a right or a left retrieve?
-
Chronarch 51Mg
Just received what I consider my first high end reel. I bought this reel for $145 brand new and this thing is sweet. Now I need the ice to melt!

When will a bass bite again after being caught?
I have looked at scientific studies which were published on this topic. The average time until they eat again in a tournament setting is 12-20 hours after release. This was scientific results by a fisheries biologist and published in a reputable journal. Obviously there are results outside the normal conditions which would fit outside the 99% confidence interval. Another set of facts come to mind. A SM will travel an average of 7.5km after release and a LM will travel 3.5KM after release. This is again in a tournament setting where the fish are displaced. Thought it was interesting.

HUGE FISH KILL AT MAUCH CHUNK LAKE PA
Alright now I am angry. First muddy scares the crap out of me by the topic. Second Big Rick has to show a video of lakes back home that I love to fish throughout the year. I do well ice fishing on chunk in between the point on the left and the shoreline.

Beat the Elites
Scott, You are def. a good stick on that lake. I think you should def. consider fishing it. Also I would like to see David Dudley fish that tourney. Isn't that his home lake?

Knoted rope..would it suffice for a ladder.
You would be able to hang on for the ride that's about it. I have used rope ladders in the past and they are impossible to get in on. When you put weight on the rope ladder it will go right under the boat. I just grab ahold of the side and lift myself out. This is tough if you have bad shoulders or are just not strong enough to pull yourself out which is tough in water.

Hooked on Bass, a new show on tonight
I don't know how he got on the water time being a Fish Biologist. That is a demanding job. I am a fisheries science major and work with some biologists.
